From reading the posts, Chesney made a good save, we scored 3 and conceded one and ramsey and santi were outstanding.....doesn't seem like much else happened in the way of chances or any other type of action :o

Anyway I am delighted to see podolski bagged a brace - without a doubt he is our most natural striker and imo he has been badly shafted by wenger for 12 months now with his continual subbing and being dropped altogether
Your mate Walcott had a few chances :D

And he missed them ??    :cussing: :cussing:

Walcott had a good game. So did Giroud, Rosicky and Podolski.

Ramsey and Cazorla were superb.

All in all, very good stuff on a difficult, waterlogged pitch 8)

There is a lack of posts because we played well and won. A really good game of football considering the conditions.

They did show a very good attitude today right from the start - no sign of the 'little bit jaded' nonsense as one would hope so early in the season. He's not everyone's favourite but a fit and firing Rosicky makes a big difference IMO. I hope he'll be an important player this season because he's up there with the best of them when he's fit and gets a prolonged run in the team

Absolutely shocked that the weather is so bad over there - thought the forecast was good plus weather is fine over here  Actually didn't realise that the weather was that bad until they announced on ssn that the Charlton and Doncaster players were taken off the pitch midway through the first half cos the pitch was becoming unplayable

Bar jenkinson, who just can't play at PL level, the team performed quite well. Rosicky's discipline and Cazorla's incredible skill took us over.

Poldi is a finisher, we should play these four as often as possible ( since we ain't signing) but i think against tougher oppostition this setup would require a proper defensive mid, but again, we ain't signing. :banghead:

Credit where credits due then.

I love pod. Guys workrate n commitment is faultless. IMHO you build an attack round a striker not try to fit him in.

Am cautiously optimistic for the spuds game now but still feel the team is still set up way to open. When we win away at city or the chavs then I'll believe...

Bbc says chamakh scored a great strikers goal btw . Good for him too.

Happy Saturday lads.

Its nice to hear we played well today, it goes to show that if we were organised properly and the right signings were made we could become so much better than the annual 4th place trophy.

I'm extremely frustrated by Rosicky because I'd love to see what he could have done for us if he'd not been plagued by injuries (not blaming him obviously) but if we can keep him fit for more or less a whole season I still think he could be a big player. Think that he might be a signing that would pay off for Moyes, would offer them something that they've lacked for years.

And this is the whole point. It's one thing to sign players in desperation but another to look at a team and think nope I'm not happy where we are, I want more.
It's one thing playing Fenerbache and Fulham and 'doing a job on them' but it's another being able to genuinely challenge for trophies.
What we've seen in the last 4 days are 2 good performances and the basis of a squad which with 2/3 special talents added in there, could do something over the next couple of years.
But has our 'have you been in football 30 years?' manager got the balls to think along those lines and not worry about killing his babies? We'll see in 9 days time.
Oh and Sanogo???????? Raw is not the word.....

Actually felt sorry for him at one point....he went to chase a ball down in the corner and the Fulham defender turned him as if he would have turned one of us. Really embarrassing for the lad - he looks absolutely shocking and miles away from this level both technically and physically

Not relevant to this game as such but I am at a loss to see how this villa team could beat us last week - a really really average victims team is playing them off the park and making them look clueless
