As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Each to their own but I don't think anyone would be saying that if we had signed Cesc instead of Ozil.
Bit of an exaggeration RG given their respective performances over the last 3 years. Fabregas had a shit final season with us and whilst he's hardly been a flop at Barca it's fair to say he hasn't lived up to expectations there. By contrast Ozil has been virtually ever-present (racking up 159 appearances) over the last 3 years and is almost universally regarded by everyone except Ancelotti to be the key playmaking cog in that Madrid team.
Why compare them?Ozil has more assists Cesc will score you more goals. They are both great players end of.The reason why Cesc hasnt been a massive success at Barca is simple Iniesta and Xavi two of the greatest midfield players ever. But 29 goals and 37 assist in 100 games is nothing to be ashamed of.Lets be glad they both played for us
Agree 100%. Two of the finest playmakers of their generation and both play/have played for us.

If wenger doesn't follow up the signing of Ozil with a world calss striker - then it (Ozil's signing) will have all been in vain. okay it amy have bought him some time, but he really does need to follow up such a landmark signing with one or three other quality signings...CB/GK and Striker.
Here's one for comment. I'm on the record in one of these threads saying i expect Giroud to have a cracker of a year.
Now, many comments have been made that he is not a world class striker. Similarly, there was a bit of a push to get Benzema as our 'world class striker' during the summer window.
With France just playing a qualifier, i found it interesting that they started Giroud and benched Benzema (in a not bad starting 11 it must be said).
Here's the question - is it the player that makes them world class or is it the club they play for?
Anyway - I'm continuing the lobby for El Shaawary to play with Giroud in a front two and get away from this light weight winger focus crap.

It's the player ability to perform at the highest level and is praised by the football media that makes them world class. I've always taken it as meaning that a world class player could play in any team across the world and make it better, as well being recognised as the best player in their position. For example, for me Rooney is not world class as there are at least 10 players that play in his position that are better and he is not a player that can walk into any successful team and make it better, e,g PSG, Barcelona, Juventus, ...Man Utd

Benzema is one of the most overrated footballers in the world. I read a stat that he's now gone over 20 hours without scoring for France. He's the French Torres.
I always thought we would get Gotze and I stood by it for so long.
I always thought Wenger would hit the German market now the
French one has been cleaned out.
I may have got the wrong German but you all bagged me.....
Now u see I do not talk shit ......so fuck u all

Yep and he'll look awesome alongside Zaha as well......oh sorry.....oops
Bloody hell!! If he is struggling with the transition from Spanish to Italian life, how the hell is he going to manage the much more disparate change to the British way of doing things - especially the weather?

I though that too when reading the article.
If it is true of course.
Why would we sign Llorente when we have Giroud ? Surely if we were signing another striker then it would be a different type of striker to Giroud or else we would have 2 big target men with no player capable of playing alongside them
Meanwhile, Arsenal will test United's determination to keep Rooney by offering the Old Trafford club £30m for him in the January transfer window.

Mathieu Flamini has warned Arsenal that he wants to finish his career with the "club of his heart" Marseille. The 29-year-old midfielder started his career with the Ligue 1 side before moving to the Gunners in 2004, rejoining Arsenal this summer after five years at AC Milan.
