THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Ahh diddums - the nasty oligarchs with all their rotten money again. Seems to have gone all quiet on the Financial Fair Play doesn't it? Perhaps because the club have realised (as anyone with an IQ of more than 10 did 3 years ago) that the whole concept will never work and is legally impossible to implement. So now we just have to accept our fate whilst charging fans whatever prices we like for the privilege?

You'd need an oligarch of course to sign someone like Negredo for £16m (we paid at least £12m for Giroud).

Stop fucking whining, man up and get out there and compete rather than making these constant boring excuses.

Manchester United had no right to win any of the titles and European Cups they managed over the past decade. Chelsea, City, Barca and Real all had the financial muscle to trump them on any player.....in fact Real took their best player in the end for a price they couldn't refuse.

Its a bit like moaning about 'fatugue' and fixture schedules when you're not winning - just live with the fucking deal and get on with it. I honestly don't hear any other club in professional football, moan and fucking bitch about rich clubs in the way we do
Spot on.

The thing about that interview is that straight off the bat he's pretty much admitting defeat; "we can't compete, it's impossible to try." Well, thats a fucking great start. It actually is possible to compete as we are seeing this season. For all the money in the world, City can buy the best players they like but they can't buy team spirit or tactical nous - when you assemble a bunch of mercenaries like that they're always gonna be capable of a few brain farts a season which we need to capitalise on.

We have the means to improve our team & give City/Chelsea a real run for their money this season but lets not do that, lets just moan about how unfair life is? You fucking cretin. And i'd be able to take your moans a bit more seriously if you weren't sitting on more than £100m of cash you *word censored*.

This interview winds me up the more I think about it.

You are suggesting that just because you didn't read it in some tabloid? Flamini said himself he had other offers in Italy, Germany and England.

Lets just call that a contract negotiating tactic shall we ? Anyway given the guy's history, it's hardly like he is a character whose integrity is impeccable is it ?

It won't come as much of a surprise to anyone on here but just for the record I am of the opinion that John Cross is a complete and utter fucking dickhead.

John Cross writes 365 stories a year. 360 of them turn out to be pure bull, so I'm going to file this latest "piece" in the shite pile and move on.

It's Thursday 16th January and Wenger hasn't signed (and isn't gonna) :barscarf:

Sorry Augie I will try harder

It's just that now (or any time in the last 4 months) is the ideal time to sign, top of the league it could be pushed through without much discontent. I can't see how the club will spin the news of a contract extension once it all goes horribly tits up by season end. It's an easy sell today (to the masses of sheep anyway) but a much harder proposition once the wheels fall off.

To you and me yes but what about the sheep amongst us ? We have people on here proclaiming this success to be a success already (despite 4 months still remaining) and they will be ok with our collapse in the second part of this season because in their eyes we will have made huge improvement  It is because of this fact that the club and w*nker are under no pressure to sign the contract anytime soon cos they know that there wont be any backlash and therefore no need to justify anything  :cussing:

100% agree with this, and this in many ways explains why the club treats the fans like shit. We have some of the most passive fans in the world, who will never question anything, and are happy once they are supporting the club.

I'm totally with Rodders on this and said it ages ago, I don't think Wonga will sign! I also totally agree with the timing, why not sign now when we are top and get lauded by all the media and sheep together?

Arsey Wonga's going :barscarf: :barscarf:

No he isn't, mate. He always takes his time with these things. Doesn't like it to distract him from the visionary work of winning the virtual trophy and pissing away the 2 winnable cups. :( :|

SteveO - if you can stick a "There's Only One" in here it won't count against your banning limit...
