Awful awful first half - we've made very hard work of home games against teams at the foot of the table since New Year's and although 3 points is 3 points would be reassuring and helpful for fatigue if we were to win the odd game with a bit less trouble.

Saying that we were awful first half against Fulham and I thought we really upped the tempo second half, might well have done the same today if we hadn't scored.

Was an absolutely class first goal mind, that's why I want to see Cazorla play centrally as often as possible. Quite funny that Neville was banging on about how Cazorla and Podolski needed to stop dropping deep and the goal came from Cazorla picking the ball up in a fairly innocuous position well out with plenty of players between him and the goal and Podolski dropping similarly deep to offer for the ball and opening up the space for Chamberlain.

Good professional win, this is a hard team to break down. Just wish we would use our resources to the fullest as I don't think we are actually that far off this year but will come up a little short. As for next year...don't think I can see it being this close unless we strengthen and that will not happen.

Good performance from Ox all round, even without the goals. Disciplined positionally - made good forward runs off the ball when it was on but didnt leave Arteta stranded either. Always on the move to find space & make himself available, Rosicky-ish combo of passing and driving forward with the ball. Closed down well & used his strength a few times too.

Not sure how many opportunities he'll get in the middle though with him, Jack, Ramsey & Rosicky all competing for that 1 "box-to-box" role in the midfield 3. Meanwhile not only do we still have a solitary striker (not including the Kung Fu Pansy) we still only have 3 recognised CBs full stop, which is almost as ludicrous imo. We've been lucky so far not to have Mertesacker or Koscielny injured (either would be just as disastorous as one to Giroud) but it's hardly uncommon to have multiple injuries/suspensions in 1 position. We've just got/had 4 players out in CM as it is, we had 4 out in the wide areas at the start of the season, we had all 4 full-backs injured at 1 point last season etc. Just two injuries at CB and we're in serious trouble, three and we're absolutely fucked. I dont really know what this has to do with the Palace game, mind.

Sagna f*cking excellent as well today. Wenger admitted to resting Gibbs ahead of tougher fixtures, which is fair enough. Someone down the pub suggested that Monreal offers more going forward than Gibbo and I spit out my beer. Unfortunately, very little of it hit the moron.

Watching the team today showed we haven't really changed since the hleb & fabregas team - dull to watch with the odd sparkling moment.

No width no pace and the only two direct actions produced goals - which just won't cut it against teams with a decent goal threat, like southampton and who can defend as well.

We can be thankful that united are so shite that Liverpool have sneaked in the top four otherwise this would be another year without a win against the top four.

Pretty much sums it up for me after staying away for the previous two seasons.

It is a soulless library. The catering service is still pants. People starting to leave with ten minutes still to go.

Crying out for width and pace. I was relieved when Kos tried a shot from 25 yards even though it headed for Row Z.
Ironic that the goals came from more direct tactics, with satisfying finishes. The rest was so predictable.
We look far better in defence though and have lost the Keystone Kops approach to defending.

Mertesacker is now looking like a good leader on the pitch - gave Santi a right rollicking at one point. Well done Per.

Credit to the Palace fans who didn't stop from start to finish even when losing.

Those Arsenal fans who prided themselves in going to away games only used to annoy me. I can now understand why.

You can win the league by winning "ugly" from time to time. Can't win it playing like we've been playing for a consistent length of time. Need to be playing like Man City and winning the odd game when playing badly.

With the injuries and now a period of the season where plenty of high intensity games, this is a problem.

If there's one player who worries me,it's Arteta. Valuable player over the last few season but now creaking. He will cost us and will higlight our lack of someone with real presence in that position.
