Re: Tickets for Wembley
Was a ST holder back then and also a travel club member (aka The Paul Johnson fan club) think got my Anfield ticket via travel club as went up on t club coach (16)clockender1 wrote:northbank123 wrote:Unfortunately mate I have to call fake on that Liverpool home end ticket - since when did Liverpool fans bother with tickets?clockender1 wrote: mate. I feel for you. But At least we scored in all of those finals - imho nothing worse than going to a final and not even seeing your team score so you can jump up and down
but no-one feel too bad for me, i did get to see these two wins - these are my lucky tickets from my wallet :
Shame they don't work on Cup Finals eh ?![]()
same as us in those days mate - standing tickets were pay on the door or advance ticket sales by post.
that was the princely sum of four pounds plus 65p p&p to my student digs in Manchester, which is why i couldn't queue up at Highbury to get a ticket in our end before a game, because they went on open sale on a Tuesday Night.
I think i'm right in saying that in those days only ST holders could apply for Away league tickets by post ?
My Cup final record started out bad - Luton defeat on my birthday

Seen defeat by L'pool (absolute robbery) and also Barca, Zaragoza (Paris is certainly not my lucky city as I also got engaged there !) and the horror v Brum.
Victory's witnessed v Sheff Wed in both cups in 93, Newcastle 98, Chelsea 02, Saints 03 and Parma in Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen in 94.
Missed out on the Manc victory in Cardiff as although had a ticket lined up, was unable to take the offer due to family commitments - thought there would be plenty more in the offing so wasn't too upset at the time.

Yes, Aztec West. Blimey, memory like a sieve... I was just gonna call the pick up point "lay by with burger van"northbank123 wrote:Ahh yeah at Aztec West. I used to pick the coach up at Bristol.

I went from about 2001-2006. Went to about half the home games and some away games too. They used my silver memberships for every game, and I ended up qualifying for 2 FA Cup final tickets vs. Chelsea in Cardiff... I took one and gave one to the supporters club.
One strange memory was getting home late in Bristol to find my house burgled... the buggers had taken everything in my room including my hi-fi (do they still exist these days?

Anyway, luckily they missed - neatly piled on my bed - an FA Cup semi final ticket vs. Sp*rs at Old Trafford and about £200 in Belgian francs as I was heading to the airport after the game.
- Anyway, spent the trip up to Manchester on the supporters coach phoning my housemates to tell them their stuff had been nicked.
It's oddly quite funny to ring your mates and say "err, hi Natalie.... you know that computer of yours? yeah, well it's gone. And your Hi-Fi? gone. Oh, and your tv... gone. On the plus side, they left your vibrator on the kitchen floor"

Re: Tickets for Wembley
What kind of robber worth his salt doesn't take a vibrator???
Used to go on the supporters bus from Newport for midweek games. Well the ones I was allowed to go to - generally limited to those falling in the school holidays and the really big games as bus left at about 1230 so it involved taking more than half the day off school
Used to go on the bus for a few away games a season too, my Dad and brother used to go to most away games but then as I got to about 8 and got old enough to start going my Dad cut back. Was probably about the same sort of time period as you - started going in 1997 and stopped using the supporters' bus when we moved stadiums (bar the Chelsea semi which I went to with my brother).
A very good friend of ours from Bristol used to get on the supporters' bus every match, an older bloke called Pete with a walking stick. We used to meet him in the pub before every single game but he slowly drifted away from Arsenal after that semi-final, he sadly passed away 2 years ago. Can't think of the supporters' club without remembering him.

Re: Tickets for Wembley
I remember waiting for a taxi with my Dad in the hotel reception area on the morning of the scum semi at OT in 2001 when two guys were paying their bill at the counter. They had just paid and were about to walk out the front door when a woman came running out of nowhere shouting at the porters to stop them. We thought something dodgy must have been going on in their room because she was frantic and waving something in the air. The blokes stopped and she asked them if they were the guys from room whatever number. They said yes and she said 'you left these on the bedside table' and handed them their tickets for the match. I then remember everyone else almost at once saying something along the lines of you lucky buggers.g88ner wrote:Yes, Aztec West. Blimey, memory like a sieve... On another note I remember buying tickets for TA's farewell game in 2002 when the bloke at the next window was telling the box office guy that his tickets for the game where we would win the league at OT a few days later had been stolen from a hotel room after a friend left a pair of tickets on the bed with the door wide open after getting pissed up. Poor bloke.

Re: Tickets for Wembley
Talking about sad cup stories - the West Ham final we got to the gate two hours early so we could get a good spot.
It started off about 20-30 of us, then a hundred, couple of hundred etc etc until 15 mins to opening and we were jammed up against the gates with thousands behind us swaying and singing n chanting 'open the fucking gate' and shouting 'there's kids out here you crunts' when this unknown kid next to me who had been there whole time pipes up ' my ticket, I can't find my ticket...'
We tried to look around us but there was just too many bodies, and then the gates opened and we were shoved through to the turnstiles....the last I saw of him was him getting pushed into the wall as people shoved past him, in a flood of tears.
I always wondered if that kid ever found his ticket on him or by some miracle on the floor later . I hope he did.
Ever since , even now, the ticket plus twenty quid goes down my sock in my boot. That way whatever happens i have a train fare and my ticket - especially since I've met fans who'd been mugged (Madrid) got stoned n lost their Germany ticket (Amsterdam Euro 2000) etc.

Re: Tickets for Wembley
Season ticket holder here, with no credits. As others have said, its not difficult to get away credits, me and my mate would go to the odd away game a few seasons back and buy the cheapest champions league away ticket available to make up the three that would normally guarantee a ticket for a showpiece game. I guess complacency that has often been shown by the team has stopped us from getting those credits simply because we don't expect to go to cup finals that much these days.
If the allocation is 31,000 normally, I would expect wigan to return 10,000 and hope that we would get them. Then that way nearly every season ticket holder will qualify.
If not, then it may be the black market, but I am not shelling out for a semi final and potential final ticket in the space of two months. I have been to every wembley showpiece semi/cup final domestically and in Europe since 1991. This year if we make it there is the real chance I may miss out, which to be honest wouldn't bother me as much as when I was younger.

And yeah - we all believe the vibrator belonged to "Natalie".

Re: Tickets for Wembley

odd thing is, i could swear blind that id been getting "into the groove" to that album before i left the house so im sure the cd was in the hi fi!
could a burglar hate my choice of music so much that they would take the time to remove in from the hi fi and smash it on the floor before leaving?
harsh
