As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'd also add that the media has too much influence. Rooney (just as an example) could be absolute shit all season and if he was dropped the media would slaughter the Ingerland manager.
DB: Rooney's been playing like a blind cripple for England since Euro '04 ended. Yet the kicker is no matter how stains he is, usually found lolloping around like a hippo with a fridge up his arse, he will still be an automatic selection.
Play for 'big' club = in you go
Score 90 goals for 'unfashionable' team = have two caps and fuck off.

exactly - and 'lolloping around like a hippo with a fridge up his arse' is exactly what we'll get from rooney, gerrard (33) and lampard (35) in the heat and high altitude.
rooney will sweat for 55 minutes then get sent off.
we will play slow patient build up and then get anally raped on the counter by uruguay and costa rica. Italy will just pass through lumpard and gerrard.

We should go for a youthful side in view to Euro 2016:
If we just took the youngsters, whom would they learn off?
Not so much how to play the game, they mostly learn that at their clubs.
But about pacing oneself through a tournament and keeping a positive mind-state through three weeks in unfamiliar territory.
The team will go on day trips, Hodgson has seen how they were cooped up under Capello.
But even so, there is a limit to what hey can do logistically and in terms of the security element too.
I am not for one minute suggesting that these players will be enduring hardship compared to millions of people around the world, but it can be tricky keeping focussed in such conditions.

Reluctantly agree. Two CBs in the squad, and of them Jagielka has been injured for a fair time this season (and I personally think he is hugely suspect at this level).
goonersid wrote:Vile as Cole is, I think it's a mistake not to take him. I can't see Ingerland winning a single game.
So then are they not correct for leaving him at home and giving baines and shaw the experience as they will be the one's who will be expected to play key role's for the euro's ? Personally (and I said this a few weeks ago) I tip my hat off to woy for what he is doing - he and the world knows that engerland are not good enough to win the world cup and may not be good enough to qualify from their group, so he is using this world cup to give his younger and inexperienced players some much needed tournament experience before the euro's
Prior engerland managers have shown far too much loyalty to a failed generation imo
Thing is Augie, if they don't get out of the group, Woy will be sacked. Cole for my money is still the best left back Ingerland have and they would stand a better chance with him than without, therefore he should be in the squad as opposed to a rookie, this is after all the World Cup. Add to that he will probably start Baines, who is as Rodders pointed out "hardly one for the future"
With the humidity etc in Brazil, the game will be played at a slower pace and I cant' see Baines being given licence to bomb forward, which is the strong part of his game, therefore Cole is more suited to what will be reqd.
It is going to be virtually impossible not to qualify for the Euros given the increased number of finalists, Woy could have used those games and preceding friendlies to bleed new talent.
