A full blown injury crisis at Arsenal - Surely not the man who has worked in football for 30+ years would have prepared better during a close season. oh wait.

Re: Scum at home
At the risk of blaming Wenger for every single thing that happens what does it say for these supposedly wholesale shakeup of training and conditioning methods he was going to oversee that we are suffering from muscular injuries like these again in September?
Likewise his use of Sanchez - played a World Cup and gets through a tremendous amount of running, he played just about every minute first few games and the reason he's been benched last two league games is likely because he's knackered.

What was very noticeable was the fact that he said that we (as a club) need to see how players that didnt play during the week, have picked up muscle injuries - given that he has never spoken like this during a season (normally it's bullshit about being unlucky etc

Re: Scum at home
The "manager" whose supporters will never tire of telling us how he "revolutionised British football" with his "innovative" training and dietry regime.storrmin571 wrote:A full blown injury crisis at Arsenal - Surely not the man who has worked in football for 30+ years would have prepared better during a close season. oh wait.

Yea, eating fish and pasta, drinking lots of water in small amounts and staying off the booze and fags.
What revolutionary new ideas! Fukin genius!

Its all just passing him by as he steals his wages from us and settles for glorious failure.

Re: Scum at home
training methods.
it has to be.
when the trainig ground was first upgraded im sure this wasnt such an issue, so unless the pitches were dug up and redone, it has to be a change in training methods coinciding with aw losing the plot a few years back.
hes so stubborn he wont change to try and prove its not his methods (by his i cover his training staff who never change, boro, colbert, banfield etc)
just like moving ozil back to left wing after starring number 10 perfromance and naming arteta captain when everyone was crying out for a dm signing, and not signing a defender.
shad forsyth will make no difference if the training is the issue

Re: Scum at home
I'm inclined to agree with all of that tbh. I know there is a tendency on here to blame everything on Arsene but this looks like it actually is his fault to some degree. It's just too many injuries to be a coincidence.the playing mantis wrote:training methods.

Re: Scum at home
He only admitted we had a problem last season, despite enough evidence problems started 2010/2011.
I also agree he won't want to lose any close knit staff. Frankly in a business and a department is under performing or making loss, it's cut off or its reorganised.
I hope Shad has a enough influence to change things as he sees fit because whatever we have been doing isn't working.
Rest Ramsey and Arteta and injured within 30 mins. That can't be right.

Injuries can happen at any time to any player though so not sure you can look too deep into it, you or I could pull a muscle getting out of bed, what is criminal is that it's not a new problem so to bury his head in the sand in the Summer and do nothing to prepare for it is criminal.

Re: Scum at home
off the top of my head, when we discussed this last year, the other top four had 3-4 injured (chelsea the lowest again) on average - again we had 8 or 9.the playing mantis wrote:training methods.

its not a fluke is it ?
our players take forever to come back from injury and then break down again regularly.

Re: Scum at home
Its too simplistic to blame it all on training.
Theo, Debuchy, Giroud all have non training related injuries.
Jack has had ankle problems for years, and his ankle certainly went over horribly v The Scum.
Gnabrys exact injury hasnt really been announced as far as I can see (Bit odd)
Sanogo- seems both injury prone and some on here suggest that he will remain injured till he leaves.
That leaves Arteta Rambo and Monreal. It is most odd to get 2 injuries within minutes. Whats annoying is that there are loads of very able Physio/ sports medicine experts yet he remains loyal to his current staff.
We do tend to play physically unimposing players by and large and that sort of physique seem to lead to injures occuring more often anyway- In other wirds it may be as much about our type of favoured players

Pod out 4 months in 2013, Ozil out a month, 17 hamstrings, 9 calf strains, 11 thigh strains, 15 ankles....

seriously, its either our training and strength and conditioning (lack of) or its our style of play. either of which is NOT sustainable in the EPL.
103 injuries in 52 games - almost 2 a game, every single game....

Re: Scum at home
I'm wondering whether our pitch has got something to do with our injuries, isn't it grass interwoven with artificial turf fibres? I believe that we have the same at the training centre too. I can't remember ever having the same catalogue of injuries that we currently have when we were at Highbury but then again we didn't have a squad made up of 9 stone DB10 short players!!!..clockender1 wrote:what about walcotts, sagnas, monreals & gibbs repeated injuries ?Theoperator wrote:Its too simplistic to blame it all on training.

Undoubtedly in part but think team selection has a lot to do with it too.the playing mantis wrote:training methods.

Most common cause of non-contact ACL injuries is muscle fatigue, Walcott did his last year after we started to build him up to match fitness after a lengthy period injured and then played him for 90 minutes 5 times in a fortnight.
Wenger basically admitted that Ramsey was physically fucked last December and was risking injury but he continued to play him every game and sure enough, hamstring goes. Ozil played 90 minutes nearly every game for 5 or 6 months before succumbing to a muscular injury in Munich.
Maybe some of them were just bad fortune, maybe some would have happened anyway, maybe they all would have. Just seems to be far too obvious and common to be a coincidence.
