to be fair though, in European terms he was wasted under wenger. only when he went to Barca did he get a CL medal. for his quality, he should of have 3 like Ronaldo or Messi/Ronaldinho.
Yes, and we'd already started to regress by the time Henry left too - he must have seen the writing on the wall. Pires (one of his closest friends at the club) had been shown the door for having the audacity to turn 30, Bergkamp had retired, Vieira had gone, Ljungberg was past it... the moment was gone, and in my opinion, it was time for Henry to move on. I remember at the start of the 2007/08 season, many fans (and possibly some players) were saying that Henry's departure had taken a weight off the team, as they no longer felt a) in his shadow, or b) the need to feed every single play through him. And we put together a pretty decent title run that year, much better than the 2006/07 season.
Don't get me wrong - Henry is my favourite player of all-time, and what he did for us in those eight years was incredible, but by 2007, I felt he was past his prime and that both Arsenal and Henry would've benefited if they went their seperate ways.
It will pain me to see him on Sky:
a) a constant reminder that we no longer have players like that
b) having to listen to him debate with tosspots such as Neville, Carragher and Redknapp
c) he'll be defending Wenger left, right and centre, watering down the respect I have for him
