As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You have more of a chance in the summer? Next summer? Doesn't add up. We could have prized him away last summer and we didn't. And we needed that position.
Let's face it: Wenger's motives are known only to him. Rational reasoning doesn't work.
I like him, sharp box player, good control, but we need to be clear about what he is and what he is not.
Tim Vickery was very adamant about this, that he is not a Giroud MKII, he is not a back to goal player to hold up the ball.
He is much more a dribbler who will sit on the shoulder of the centre back and makes short runs it the penalty area.
If he does sign, then with Giroud Martinez and Welbeck in the squad, I think Campbell and Sanogo will be sold, with Akpom sent on loan.

I make Man Utd favourites to get him should they bid for him, as there is a striker vacancy there with RvP fading, Falcao not having made much of an impact and Rooney dropping into midfield at times, but I think we would be favoured over Chelsea where Costa's presence would prove unfavourable.
Martinez would fancy his chances of beating Giroud in the pecking order.

The cynicism is because this fella has been linked with most of Europe's top clubs and when it is apparent that he will be sold, there will be more ambitious clubs than us ready to pounce. Its also a position where Wenger thinks we are stacked with options
There is a possibility Martinez will come to Arsenal, if he is put up for sale and if we bid for him, neither of which I can say will happen for sure.
For us -
His international team mate Ospina is at Arsenal.
He would have the chance to play in the Premier League, which some players aspire to.
He would have the chance to live in London.
He (hopefully) will have the chance of Champions League football. Above all he would have every possibility of being first choice striker.
These conditions would not be met at all other clubs.
Against us are -
It may be that we are out bid, but these days we can bid high.
It may be he prefers to play in a Spanish speaking/Latin culture country.
In the summer of 2014, I was calling for Jackson. However [right now], I am not sure he will be much of an upgrade on the ever improving OG. If we are getting him to rotate with OG and continue to keep Wele as winger, then fine. TBH, there are not many world class CFs available

There are never world class players " available" you have to go the extra mile to get them.

Falcao was. But it turns out to be is a bullet dodged... so far
A report naming the source as "according to reports on Spanish radio" posted on a blog from Nauru. Tells you all you need to know about that.
More proof that Adrian "shit for brains" Durham reads this forum (and is obsessed with all thing Gooner, it must hurt bad that his son is a Goooner) as he went to the trouble of speaking to a Spanish "expert" lol, .
Not Arsenal related I know, but it doesn't half amuse me to hear the English pundits/former players try and talk down the reasoning why a player like danny ings would move to spain - the media in England think that no other league can live with the premier league and while that is true in excitement terms, the reality is that la liga and the bundesliga is light years ahead on technical ability. The English national team suffers because their players have no ability to adapt because they only know 1 league and 1 way to play and personally I think that ings should go abroad if the chance arises. When I see di maria get possession tonight, every one of his team-mates runs away from him and not one of them comes looking for a pass
