As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
In fairness, results like this have been rare in recent months so lets hope it isn't a sign of a late season collapse and we go and take 4 points plus off United, WBA and Sunderland.
If we do that then it's as good as we could expect in the league considering the title was gone by September
That's 1 point out of 6 and 180 minutes without a home league goal now against two sides who set up the exact same way, with neither the chavs or Swansea even fielding a striker. Sunderland and West Brom will do the exact same thing so I don't see 4 points from 6 being a done deal by any means.
You're right, it's not a done deal but I'd still be surprised if we failed to take 4pts from ManU (a), Sunderland (h) and WBA (h).
Hope we don't see Theo as a lone striker again though - it makes us even easier to play against as we have zero aerial threat. Even by Wenger's standards, that was a strange move - although it was slightly predictable given how much he'd talked Theo up as a striker pre-game.
Have to question taking off giroud last night, its seems the team still thought he was playing as well with the amount of crossing that went on for the 20 + minutes
Another thing as well, theo theo can be sold, Looked and played like someone with a big chip on their shoulder last night.
I think it's not unexpected eventually to lose a game after such a good run. What we did see, however, is how far we are behind Chelsea.
I know that Wenger's thoughts over the years has been to not compete in spending with City and Chelsea as that coul be futile and get you how much further? What I do see is a lot of good players not fulfilling their potential because of the balance of the side and the lack of certain physical and mental qualities.
Wenger has a lot of great qualities and brings a lot to the club but he is not capable of constructing a team that could really challenge. He's good at collecting and developing a certain type of player and making sure we have enough of them to cover for injuries and positions.
The mixture of qualities required to win the English league hasn't changed altogether and those qualities that we had ten years ago are similar to those which Chelsea have now and City have/have had.
Any time the team gets talked up and a bit of pressure is applied it's bottle job time - put a run of good results together, have a very slim outside shot at a title push, Chavs at home, bottle job performance.
Media/fans talk of runners up spot, best league position in a decade, Wenger with some guff talk of mounting a series shot at the title next season - bottle job against Swansea.
Make no mistake if for some freak reason we find ourselves in the mix after next Christmas you can be guaranteed that the king of bottle jobs will ensure it's royally fcuked up in typical fashion. Apply even the slightest bit of pressure to these powder puffs and watch em crumble.
The only way this team could win another title - apart from perhaps getting rid of Wenger - is if they do it coming from behind. No way this lot could head the table with a few games to go and NOT somehow find a way to blow it. Mental strength? Spirit? Who are you trying to kid Arsene? The famous quote: 'You can fool all of the people some of the time; and some of the people all of the time; but you can't fool ALL of the people All of the time' is so apt when it comes to our manager.

100% agree, take the spotlight off the team and with the focus elsewhere they will flourish but the very minute there will be a whiff of title talk......KABOOM.
Intrigued to know if those who have recently stated that we have made progress this season would agree that if we end up 4th, with fewer points than last season and lose the FA Cup final that we have in fact regressed?
