He is a terrific player, but can you imagine our board/manager sanctioning a £15m move for a (soon to be) 31 y/o player who's had a few serious injuries?
Fail, Express and Mirror are all reporting this too.

Is he what we need?
I'm sure he'd get in like but I'd rather a defensive midfielder and a striker before someone to compete with an already congested midfield area of Cazorla, Ramsey and Wilshere?
And at 31, I'm not sure he'd be the best signing for us at the moment.. but I'm not an expert on German football so he could be exactly what we need for all I know
Having watched quite a few Bayern matches last season he is still a great player but has in my opinion lost a bit of his bite and definitely his age is starting to show, so i'd agree even though still a good player he is not what we need and it would have been a waste of money, even if it was just to stop others getting him

100% agree that he isn't as good as he was but he is still exactly what we need - he will patrol the area in front of our back 4 as if his left depended on it, he will be aggressive and committed to the tackle and he will be the type of leader that will drive the team on and demand more from his team-mates . In a team short of a physical DM, I cannot understand how ye would question if he is the type of player we need We are not going to spend big money (if any) on a DM, so he would do the job for two years imo

Today's papers reporting that Schweinsteiger to Manure is a done deal.
A few years ago he'd have been ideal but at 31 for a PL midfielder he'd be a risk. Manure will still be paying him 7 million a year when he's 34.
However, it may leave us with a stronger hand chasing Schneiderlin.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to get his squad fully fit before he considers "quality" additions. (London Evening Standard)
And just how long does the fully fit squad remain "Fully Fit" ? He truly is Clueless.....past his best time to just walk away PLEASE!
We may have won the FA Cup two years on the trot, but nothing with the Clueless One has changed......he fiddles whilst the rest of the prem do business.

Seeing as g88ner is online at the mo I think that you can expect a quick response something along the lines of "dont believe what he says"

To be honest, I didn't know he was a holding midfielder I thought his role was further forward than that, so would be more likely to be competing with Wilshere, Ramsey and Cazorla, rather than the upgrade on Coq that I'd like to see.
That's my ignorance of European football I'm afraid.
Obviously it's academic as we appear to not interested in either of them but, if you had to choose, would you want Schneirderlin or the German bloke? (can't be arsed guessing his name but it reads like the Austrian chap from Terminator)
Schneiderlin is younger and can contribute more to the team at this stage BUT, I am totally fixated (and have been for a number of years now) on our need for a physically commanding DM and I dont think that scheiderlin will be disciplined positionally to do the job. Schweinstiger loves a tackle and would be a real leader who would lift the team when needed and would fear no-one plus he is an experienced winner who wouldnt want to settle for 4th. Given a choice right now between schneiderlin and no midfield signing, then I would vote to sign him cos I dont think that we are good enough in the engine room, but I would much rather that we sign javi martinez or carvalho if I'm honest

He used to play out wide, so you’re correct. He was converted late on (a la Lahm and Javi Martinez) to the central enforcer role. I don't think there's any doubt that Schweinsteiger is the better player, but he is creaking now.
