Manure have spent approximately 80-90million on transfer fees alone if they get Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin (giving Schwein 30m euro over a three period period in wages apparently) and haven't bought any real game changers that will take them above us. Citeh have spent 50m on Sterling who will improve them, obviously, but the fee is farcical. Chelski so far haven't done anything bar Falcao which won't make any difference if everything goes as expected. And we've spent 1/8th of United's fees so far and brought in a world class goalkeeper.
Of course we'll need to see how it goes from here til September but so far, everything is going well in my opinion.

So, "everything is going well" cos the team that finished miles ahead of Arsenal have so far matched them by signing a new second choice keeper...and cos Citeh (who also finished ahead of us and are superior) signed an overrated kid, and best of all, ManYoo won't really improve, despite signing an exciting winger, a proven winner who just won the WC, a proven PL performer and Italy's first choice right back?
Arteta has a new contract mind. So, yeah it's all going swimmingly

Let's talk in facts: from the day Ozil returned from injury in January to the end of the season, we accumulated more points than anyone else and this includes a period at the end of the season where Chelski won a lot on the bounce despite playing shit including in one game when their/your new 2nd choice keeper cost Stoke the game. This period coincided with us having the majority of our squad fit.
Obviously I'd rather Schneiderlin than nobody but if Coquelin plays how he did last season, Schneiderlin won't be in the team. Arsenal aren't going to start buying players for 25m to sit on our bench. United have invested 50m Euro on a 31 year old and declining Schweinsteiger. Again, this is not how we operate. They signed Darmian, we have Bellerin and Debuchy. They signed Depay, we have Alexis, Theo, Ox so again, no worries there.
Considering the money that other teams have spent I think this window has gone as well as it can go for us. I think we need to sign a defensive midfielder to boost the numbers more than anything else and a winger who can play forward. Ideally Reus but that's unlikely, maybe someone like Gotze or Lacazette.
Some people might get alarmed at this because you're all clamouring for a new shiny DM but going into next season starting anyone other than Coq at the position would be poor management. His form last season was up there with any DM in the world and he was the best DM in the league; that needs to be rewarded by a starting berth this season.
The only signing I'm remotely jealous about so far is Sterling and that's because he's a great player but again, the price is farcical and we weren't in for him rightfully so. My outlook is this: I don't see Bale, Muller, Reus or any other game changing player in England yet so we have nothing to worry about. Let's make sure we sign that extra defensive mid to compete with Coquelin and add a top class wing player and we're good to go. We have time.
