Thats bullshit from Wenger. We weren"t expected to beat Man Utd. We lost 5pts to Boro and 4pts to Brum.Win them and we would be champions

Can't agree with Arsene on this one. We lost it throughout the season with bad draws in matches we dominated, but particularly that awful 11 point drop against villa, brum, wigan, boro and the chavs.

We died right there... :(

I think wenger is playing games - its easier to blame defeats against top teams as fans will be more willing to, if not accept, but maybe understand these defeats. He is cleverly trying to deflect the attention away from the absolute shocking run of form that seen us lose points against all those shite teams already listed above  Dont think your plan is going to work here arsene

If he really believes that then we are in a whole heap of trouble next season. It wasn't losing to United that cost us - the Title was really long gone by then.

Birmingham draws were the most undermining in my opinion  Also an honourable mention goes to Chelski and Man Utd games where we were winning 1-0... and lost 2-1

I suspect you're right augie, and like dvbrisgooner1 says, if that is the case then I worry about next season. It should be blatantly obvious that St. Andrews was where it all turned sour.

Unless of course he believes we can still win the title this season and is trying to lull everybody into a false sense of security......

I think it's a combination of the Boro and Birmingham games and the fact that we just can't hold on to a lead that did for our season. We were leading at Old Trafford and we were leading at Stamford Bridge. If we had held on to those leads, we would be top now and almost home and dry - but yes, a team of Arsenal's quality should be winning against Boro and Birmingham - no offence to them.

I still feel however, psychological damage was done by the drubbings we got from Spurs in the Carling Cup and Man Utd in the F.A. Cup - mostly because Arsene W didn't field the strongest team. After those fiascos the younger players seemed to have lost a bit of confidence. Birmingham was just the final blow and Boro took advantage.

The 2 dropped points at home to Birmingham was the beginning of the our implosion, Eduardo's injury at the St Andrews didn't help matters but I think the rot had started to set in by then.

What do you think guys? :?:
i laughed when i read that

nevermind the fact we went like 7 games with only 1 win in end of april/march

to be honest, we lost the title because of drogbas goal not being ruled off when it clearly was and adebeyors goal being disaloud when he was clearly on...4 points stolen, funnily enough thats how many points from the top2 we are...interesting.

although man utds goal difference is far superior i think we would have had the confidence to get somthing had chelsea and liverpool not robbed us

still they could always slip up twice
