Apathetic Bunch !!
Peter Cavill 'what a cheek' you have to complain !!!
Don't you realise on this forum you get 'assassinated' for complaining & told you're not a real fan by idiots from the likes of Scarborough who never get to the Emirates or ever intend to.
We seem to have such an apathetic bunch of fans who simply shrug their shoulders at the throwing away of a season that could have been amazing but for our great but stubborn manager's refusal to bolster the squad with some experience in January.

I understand AW's desire to win with what we had. My inbuilt hatred of Manure goes back to the years they just went out and bought when things went pearshaped and any fool can do that. It takes dedication and ability to do what Wenger has done for Arsenal and it would have been amazing had he achieved it this season.
Back in January the only things AW could not possibly have forseen were the catastrophic squad-traumatising injuries to Eduardo and a run of poor decisions - particularly the two Liverpool CLQF penalties. Maybe the long term injuries to Tomas and RvP could have been predicted - but not much else.
In Arsene's position, with hindsight of what actually did happen, maybe he should have spent some money on an Anelka, a Shaun Wright-Phillips or another defender as insurance. Definitely he should have played Eboue less and latterly Theo more.
But we can all be wise afterwards. Brian Dawes' posting paraphrasing the 'Romans' sketch from Life of Brian saya it all. I shall spend the summer in fervent anticipation of next season.

Simple solution, stop paying the 1250 pounds. There are plenty of other gooners who will take your place.
"I expect better". Jesus mate, get over yourself. You're not that important. Your ignorance is unbelievable.
You expect better players then Gilberto? So the captain of Brazil isn't good enough for the almighty Peter Cavill

As regards Gilberto, i don't think he is good enough for the mighty Arsenal! Just because he is the Brazilian captain doesn't make it worth putting him in the team. Do you think he has had a good season apart from the last couple of games?
He hasn't played much this season, so he has been rusty when given a game. If he was to play more games, he would show us that he is still a quality player. Not to mention we need his experience.
Anyway, you're fully entitled to your opinion.

If we did have any money in the kitty we would all have differences of opinion about who to bring in.
However, one thing is certain...........If John Arne Riise became available and we bought him I think we'd all agree that we were heading in the wrong direction!!!! ( sorry about that one you've probably heard it already)

Obviously, everyone's entitled to their opinion including those that want to criticise the manager, however I think you need to get some sort of perspective. It might be true that more new signings last summer or in January could have won the league. But then again they could have destabilised things. Either way, even the detractors are missing the point that the only reason we got into that position in first place was because Wenger had the vision 5 years ago to plan a team for the future and construct without spending anything (net) while the stadium was built. So, criticise away but I really don't think that anyone else could have got us so close.
In a similar vein, although it's frustrating not to have the budget of some other clubs at the moment bear in mind that this club has been around for over 120 years. If it carries on being run the way it is, it still will be. There are a few other clubs being run differently who can't be so confident.

No, a CB wouldnt offer much, neither would GK. Gilberto plays CM though where our attacking play is instigated. Do you feel he has any creative input then or are you saying we should play him CB?

Kipmonster, you're thinly veiled attack at the majority on this site is unwarranted.Kipmonster wrote:Peter Cavill 'what a cheek' you have to complain !!!

I remember who you are... because your 1st post on this forum was just ridiculous....you introduced yourself to the forum by starting a thread in which you said we should all protest against the club by turning up 30mins late for kick off at our next home game.
- Quite rightly, a large number on this site told you exactly what they thought, and where you could stick your protest.
So lose your spiteful attitude, and contribute to the forum...because in time, you'll realise that there's alot of good posters, with real views. After all, this forum represents a good cross-section of Arsenal fans...young and old; season ticket holders; away game regulars; red & silver members; and fans from across the country and throughout the world - from as near as Highbury & Islington, and as far away as Australia.
Wipe the slate clean and welcome to the forum

As it happens, a CB can really influence a game, not so much one we're chasing but certainly all those games where we lost a lead, a top quality CB may well have helped us bag a few more precious points and kept us in the fight or even at the top. We have possibly the best two full backs in the league in Clichy and Sagna but it's CB and keeper where we are mediocre. Defence has never been an area that Arsene has really looked to invest heavily in.
Gilberto sadly, is a shadow of the man he was 2 or 3 years ago. He really isn't good enough and if we end up with him as first choice alongside Cesc next season then we are going backwards. It looks like a couple more youngsters will be coming into the first team squad so my guess is that it will be something like this -
Almunia and Fabianski with Mannone as backup
Clichy, Sagna, Gallas, Toure, Senderos, Nordveit, Traore, Eboue, Djourou, Hoyte
Cesc, Rosicky, Diaby, Denilson, Fran Merida, Song,
Adebayor, RVP, Vela, Walcott, Bendtner, Eduardo
There will probably be a couple of players incoming - you'd assume midfielders if that list is anywhere near correct! I personally think it looks weak as we're carrying a couple of injury prone players, one coming back from serious injury and another couple of youngsters.
Isn't it great being a footy fan!!

I think Bendtner will be sold though
