Australia fumbled the ball too many times when they were attacking. 32-17 New Zealand win our world cup. I don't like the Haka, but you can't argue that NZ were quality.

NZ deserved to win the game. Australia gave it a good go and we were treated to an entertaining spectacle thankfully with some good tries. How many times did you see the backs aimlessly pumping the ball high into the sky from runnable positions? Very few. Yet it happens 15 times a game in the 6 nations.

Good tournament overall.

Says it all really about how predictable rugga is.

Who would have guessed it NZ win Aus runners up and SA third. What is the point?

Anyway congratulations to the Southern Hemisphere for retaining the 'world cup'.

The final score was Northern Hemisphere 1172 pts Southern Hemisphere 1333 pts.

A comprehensive victory/Webb Ellis retention for the Southern Hemisphere. Well done chaps.

Oh well back to the biscuit games boys until the Home Internationals get under way in Feb but don't forget Stargazer Lancaster only a Grand Slam will do.

In other stats news from the Gayball World Cup, the final score in prolapsed rectums due to DII's (Digit Intrusion Injuries) was;

Northern Hemisphere 1172
Southern Hemisphere 1333

:shock:

Think the RFU have been clever to wait for the post-World Cup press to blow over before announcing anything from their 'tournament review'. Although the players have been doing their best to keep the farce going.

Mike Brown - for such an articulate bloke - doesn't half come across as an arrogant petulant little chav on and off the pitch. Running his mouth again about 'trust in the squad' and similar shit as if he's the pack leader. The last thing the RFU want is for their players to be hitting the headlines again and prolonging the shambles.

And after hearing him talk I don't have much sympathy with Sam Burgess. He clearly didn't commit to union from the start, he has blown the alleged personal criticism of himself completely out of proportion and sounds like a brat. Particularly after his arrogant pre-tournament comments about Scott Williams - made himself look a dickhead by trying to make out Scott Williams was a nobody, despite Williams having scored a winning try at Twickenham (which is infinitely more than Burgess ever achieved in the game). He was never going to reap the benefits in year one and was on track with his progress, just didn't have the commitment. Obviously wants to go back to just trying to smash people's block off and tackle them round the neck.

Inevitable that Lancaster would go - shame he didn't have the decency to fall on his sword but when you give somebody doing a middling job a stupidly long contract then don't expect him to retire.

Not sure who the new coach will be - interesting that Josh Lewsey has quit his WRU post but if England have any sense they will go for a Southern Hemisphere coach to change the tired dynamic and add some ruthlessness - Eddie Jones being the favourite. Either way their first job has to be to get rid of Chris Robshaw and (if the RFU will allow it) to start picking the world class back-rower they have in Steffon Armitage.
