RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

I felt sick reading that he has passed away.
I have long admired him. Our last English manager?
He was head coach for some notable names, Terry Neill, Ron Greenwood and Bobby Robson.

Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globetrotters.

I loved watching them, even after I discovered a lot of the games were staged managed. he was amazingly talented and a great personality.

Motorhead were not the most 'musically refined' of bands but jeezuss they were pure "Fun"...Live....Met Lemmy a few times back in the 90's after gigs etc and he and filthy Phil were so welcoming and always had time to talk and chill with fans...took my son for his birthday when he was 11years of age - he wanted to go - and Lemmy made a real fuss of him signing his T shirt, programme and a pair of drum sticks the drummer had given him...he rang me last night from the states in tears saying he was 'gutted' .

So many rock n roll legends seem to be passing away of late.

Was lucky enough to see them live twice in recent years ( minus Jerry Dammers), along with Rico passing recently sad times for Ska fans.

Sad indeed, man. I love Motorhead. Agree totally they were never the most "musical" or (melodic!) of Metal bands but they captured that early punk energy thing and upgraded it with Metal sensibilities. I remember seeing them live back in the 80's and they kicked off into one song and it was so fast that within a couple bars they were all out of time with each other. Lemmy said "Fuck that. Stop there. We'll try that again" and laughed with the crowd. They then just started the song again and nailed it. Quality. 8)

So many top people dying lately. :( Lemmy, John Bradbury (strangely for a mostly Metal fan I LOVE Ska too), Don Howe, John Roberts. :(
