Ethical question

Post by the playing mantis »

per my other thread allocated ingerlund wales tickets for the euros. last game on earth we wanted. as stated we planning on going (extra day off work and hotel booked already)unless we got silly money for them.

is that touting and scummy despite not getting them with the intention to sell?

Its only scummy if you sell them for a profit mate, thats the point people are making. We all I hope at least now ( ) understand why you bought them,

Why dont you sell them on here if you cant be arsed to go?

we will be there we have even extended our stay (which was v difficult as all hotels went for the Thursday night straight away, and we have subsequently been moved hotel (which was rundown anyway but only one we could get in for that night) as they don't want English people in it) cos of the chaos of attending this game. so intention all along was to go, but it was more a what if someone offered big cash and how do you sell in such a situation however badly put it was. I now see its considered wrong.

however I still refuse to believe that most on here if walking up to stadium to a neutral game and someone came up to them and offered em $$$$ would say, no thats alright mate you have em at face...

I appreciate my investigation in how to sell were wrong, but they were not purchased with that intention...if they were we would have been delighted to get England!

o well u all told me!

Nothing is black and white, but since a lot of scumbags could easily abuse that fact and all of the trustful ppl on here you just gotta have a principle. Which is dont profit on your football tickets. No matter what twat could actually pay you a million for that ticket there would be ordinary ppl who rarely get a chance on getting a hold of one for even the face value because of the aforementioned scumbags who buy with intent to resell. If we don't want this up the arse we shouldn't bend over in the first place. As mentioned its more than enough that the industry doesn't give a fuck about the real fans because they can get "the other" modern rich fans flown in from Mars by winning the virtual trophy and attending group play +1 in the CHL each year.

Agree with that. I think most people would sell   In fact, my Liverpool mate was offered £700 for his league cup final ticket and most of our mates thought he should sell, and they're decent lads (In the end, he went to the game)

That said, I was offered a few hundred for my spare Arsenal v Chelsea FA Cup final ticket but declined and gave it to my local Arsenal supporters club. I was only a poor student back then too so I was tempted, but (unfortunately) my conscience won through :(

I was possibly a tad harsh saying it was scummy. Although I'd like to think I'd resist the temptation again, it's hardly the biggest crime in the world and your financial position may play a part too.

You could've bought a bigger and better sewing machine mate

And mantis: your example of walking up to the stadium - fair enough but that's not your situation, right?! Theoretically, if I had two tickets to Germany against England in the final, and needed money for a new liver, I'd definetely take a walk down the champs avenue in Paris on that weekend and bleed someone dry (quite literally  )

yes and no. have no experience of it so no idea how it works (despite me being a seasoned tout, and just applying for euro tickets with the intention of getting a plm game and cashing in...)

maybe i was naive but do people really carry $$$$ to pay for a ticket at a stadium seems unlikely. any money would have funded a vegas trip for our wider circle of friends than the 4 going so not a worthy causes as your liver is

anyway we have been moved hotel agai by expedia, to a much nicer one thats only 10 mins from the game, so looks like we cant avoid it now!

anyone fancy buying ireland sweden tickets at a knockdown price...*

edit * the swede/eire comment was a self depreciating joke. we will be utilising these so no one mssg me about them.

This seems to be fairly even tempered at the moment but if it descends into abuse like the other thread it will be locked.

As someone who's been royally fucked for both concert and sport tickets in the past it's fair to say that I'm no fan of the guy that looks to make a killing out of another persons desire to attend an event. My advice, so as you don't end up going on the *word censored* thread  would be for you to look for the poor sod that wanted to see the England game but ended up with tickets for the match you want to see. There's probably some website looking to pair off people in such a position. Hey presto, both disappointed parties satisfied and the good kharma gained may even see you get a hand shandy from some French tart behind the wheelie bins after a day on the sauce 8)

Mate, to be honest, I have to say that in my younger days I may have agreed with you. But as you get older you start to recognise how important it is to keep the game affordable to the masses.
I'm assuming that you're a younger supporter.
Just hope you do the right thing.
