Re the above - Hang that red twitching face out of a car window and all we're missing is a bit of sagginess (well maybe a lot) and a lady of the night. The man who has won a grand total of 1 FA Cup (singular). Appy Arry.

Was a double bubble post that turned into an Arry bashing post but when I saw the red twitching oops :barscarf: :barscarf:

And of course, "Citeh have oil money" so it's ok to accept losing to them. Any other team that isn't one of the above is also ok as its an "accident" in "special circumstances".
What's that Gazidis quote from 2 years ago again...ah yes "We are on the shoulder of European giants like Bayern"

Spot on. But dont ever apply the standards in reverse. Such as assuming we should win the league because 'its only Tottenham and Leicester', or expect to progress in the FA Cup as 'its only Watford'.

Wenger isnt expected to beat these top teams, and he doesnt think he shouldnt be criticized, yet he expects leeway when we lose to much lesser teams. He really does have the best of both worlds.

I find it so ironic, as so many pundits seem to think he is a brilliant manager, yet subconsciously they dont expect anything special form Wenger. They always say he is a brilliant manager who Arsenal cant afford to do with out, but when the next question is can Arsenal win the league or CL - they pretty much laugh at the idea of it. It cant be both. You cant rate Wenger as a brilliant manager, and hold hold Arsenal to such low expectations. You cant be an environmentalist, and oil executive at the same time - its one or the other.

It's amazing really to think that just 2 years before Wenger started "to build" the club that we actually won a European trophy :rubchin:

Nowadays european matches are something we take part in without silly ideas of actually winning them, evenings to sell half and half scarves and opportunities for our new global fan base to take photos of the amazing atmosphere provided by supporters of the bigger teams in Europe. We should all be very grateful to Mr Wenger for providing this experience for us each season.

and the really sad thing is that the modern day arsenal supporter forgets we were successful before Wenker,GG won us 6 trophies in his 9 years plus lost 2 other finals,GG record is kind of putting Le Arsoles to shame now

Roy Keane on Arsenal

Keane, in his role as a pundit for ITV's analysis of the game, questioned the mentality of some members of Arsenal's squad and slammed their inconsistency.

He said: 'They've got a weak group of players, who can't seem to lift themselves for certain games.

'A lot of pressure seems to have got to them over the past few months. For players at Arsenal football club, if you can't deal with the pressure, well you shouldn't be there.'

No doubt this will be sneeringly dismissed by our fearless leader. After all what has Roy Keane ever won playing football?

And further..........
Keane went on: 'Tonight, the damage was already done in the first game. There's no shame in losing 3-1, sure. The effort was there, Barcelona had switched off.

'But it must be hard for the manager and for the supporters when they see the players lifting it for certain games but then can't do it for Watford at home or Swansea at home. They're cheating the supporters in that sense.'

It's EXACTLY right, why can Wenger NOT see this????

"I built" and "they were wobbling" two prime contenders for Wenger's bullshit quote of the week.

But when asked about his side's Champions League record, Wenger said: 'I'll give you the stats. We have to consider it game by game. You look at the positives and negatives and prepare for the next one.

'We have gone out against top sides, who went on and won the Champions League after.

'Only on one occasion we were completely guilty, against Monaco.

'The others were against Bayern and Barcelona twice.'

When asked whether the result could help the Gunners in their attempts to haul back Premier League leaders Leicester, Wenger added: ‘'I think yes, I am pleased with the performance.

There we go again, just one bad performance against Monaco, the others, all justified. Losses are taken in isolation.... avoid defeat 3 times in a row and it becomes "an unbeaten run"

Pity there was not one of the spineless gathered press who could find the time to reply to him "with the stadium debt under control, and £150m in reserve, wasnt the move from Highbury so the club could compete with the best in europe?".

Europe is just a cash cow but nobody really expects us to win it. Wenger has had 18 years of qualification and with the exception of one freak year, he's never really got anywhere near winning it. It exposes his tactical ineptitude.

GG had ONE bad year in Europe and after it he figured everything out and took us to a European trophy at the very next attempt.

That is a very pertinent point. GG set us up differently for the league and for Europe. He knew you had to be pragmatic and do your homework. Wenger? He just says "play your game" to the players and hopes the mythical Gods of the Moral High Ground will ensure his team wins. :x

If just one of the journalist pricks put him to task on such slip ups it would be interesting.

All they have to say is, 'Are you saying that if Bayern or Barca weren't in the competition you think you'd win it? If so, why do you bother with the top four or even turning up for any of the group matches if you can't win because of such superior teams?' Another question they could ask is 'Also, surely you can transfer your statement to the Premier league, and say "if Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea were not so heavily funded we'd be able to win the domestic Championship" as you don't look on course for it this year do you?'
