THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

same old lies every single year.

the top clubs will have already tapped up players and agents and know who they are letting go.

same old injuries will occur next year.

and the bank balance will reach 140 million and ticket prices will rise again.

BINGO ! We have a full house winner !

:barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
yeah, we conceded early goals b/c our defense was utter shite. Our defense was crap b/c you didn't strengthen in the offseason and continue to play a high line without high press. Rinse/repeat.

playing with 10 men? didn't we concede something like 3 goals inside 10mins?

he needs a parrot on his shoulder trained to say the same thing over and over again and save his breath. It'd be easier.

His new quotes make my blood boil though. How can he be so naive to think that Vermaelen will be happy with another year on the bench or Fabianski will turn and sign with us. He is completely deluded - now his parking the bus comments which are stupid. There is pragmatic and then there is Wenger who wouldn't go against his own principles (whatever those may be) even when getting shelled. So expect more of the same next year.

I am still thinking that once the contract is re-signed there will be every chance that this could end in tears. For us - those tears are now. But for the Wenger luvvies, it will be probably some time next year when Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshire, etc break down and we fall away again.
Stewart Robson on todays broadcast said he talked to a few people at Arsenal and that he's signed it. Makes sense. This was done and dusted much, much earlier but wasn't release due to the stumble they had earlier this year and season ticket renewals, but mark my words, it's been a done deal for a while.

he isn't going anywhere.....

It'll be Jenkinson at RB and last minute he'll go out and sign some mediocre striker as a back up to Giroud.
He will only do that in a panic move if we lose our home opener and he is booed out of the stadium....again.

Same as it ever was :banghead:

All I've heard all day funnily enough. Next season if we qualify we'd have qualified 18 years in a row equalling Man U's British record. Is there a special trophy for that too, to sit alongside the Calendar Year Champions 2013

on whether he regrets not buying another striker…

No the regret is not there because we missed offensive players at an important part of the season. The solution is not always outside, the solution is as well inside your club where the disadvantage of having many injuries is you always have to play the same players. Then of course they score less goals because they are a bit jaded.

The internal market is coming

on whether he had any doubts…

No, I do not have moments of doubt. if I did, it would have been a few years ago when I had to say no to many offers and I committed to this club.

Also noticed that the general consensus amongst esteemed journalists and commentators now is that we would have challenged most certainly were it not for injuries to Ozil and Ramsey. No doubt in the next few weeks we'll start hearing about how he'll surely sign that quality striker we desperately need having learned his lesson this year and we will be challenging next year. Fast forward 12 months and we'll be hearing the same thing. Again. Groundhog Day.

In today's interview he acknowledged that heavy away defeats cost us. He then speculated that we were "too cautious" and indicated he would be looking to change this. He must be fucking insane. Shipping in 5 or 6 goals, having lost the game in the first 15 minutes and that is what he reads into it?

Today he said he was proud of finishing 4th - proud to finish behind Liverpool, proud to qualify for CL play offs again, proud to be starting the season 2 weeks earlier than our rivals.

Ungrateful bastards!
We have finished 4th again. :barscarf:
Must be Wengers greatest ever achievement and we are lucky to have a man who consistently gets us top four on a shoestring budget and only gets paid about 7 million a year. Sign him up I say. We could end up like Leeds, Pompey or Rangers ffs.
Stupid caaants

Yep, the spin has started - those pesky injuries to Walcott and Ramsey were solely to blame for Chavski's six goals, Liverpool's five etc. All of those attacks down our left would obviously have been stopped by our right winger and central midfielder

Next part of the spin - "he knows what's needed to turn it round and with the new commercial deals, he'll spend big this summer"
