Bendtner; The Leg-end

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I agree. Bendy is mint, I love him to death, always will, I'll always follow his progress but, well, you lot don't care quite as much but tonight you kept SAFC in the prem for at least one more season so a heartfelt thank you and an end to this thread from me.

You sure Chippy? Thought I heard an interview with Fergie a few weeks back where he said he was going to give players like Hernandez more game time so they could reach the 10 appearances required for a medal. Might be wrong, apologies if so.
Only going by the commentary in the manure chavs game a couple of weeks ago. Martin Tyler was commenting on the likes of Lindegaard benefitting from the rule change. He's normally pretty accurate.

Lindegaard would get a medal anyway tbh. They're very generous when it comes to special dispensation and loads of players have got them, and Kuszczak (got it three times with 6, 9 and 5 appearances), and Lindegaard has played 9 this year.

Tbh I understand it with sub keepers - some of those will have travelled up and down the country and been in the squad for 38 games, even if they only started a few. Manninger was certainly entitled to the one he was awarded in 97/98. What is a bit silly is when they give them out to the likes of Henrik Larsson for 7 appearances.

So according to Ferguson it would have been something of a disgrace if Fletcher wasn't entitled to one for his 2 games + 1 minute substitute appearance. Presumably he'll be giving one of the allocated medals to Bobby Charlton too then seeing as he also used to be an important player for United? :rubchin:

Alright, alright nobody likes a smart arse!

5 appearances for a medal devalues them for me, 10 was fine. Bring the tea lady on for the last 30 seconds FFS

Agreed. Was nothing wrong with the old system where you could ask the FA for a special dispensation for a particular player that was deserving of a medal but for whatever reason didn't make the 10 games (like longterm injury maybe) especially if, say, that player had scored a vital last day winner or something.

If the "fringe" (what's wrong with using the word "shit" nowdays?) players are getting them too then it just devalues them quicker than your house would be devalued if Jordan moved her vagina in next door. :|

That's a decent idea like but I've got an even better one. To celebrate his ten years of service to the Arsenal I think they should cancel the Emirates Cup next season and have the "Nicklas Bendtner Invitational". Basically it would be Arsenal, Sunderland, Juventus and Birmingham City, all of the clubs who have been lucky enough to experience Bendtner playing for them and it could be a round robin style tournament taking place over a week or so with stalls selling Danish pastries and such likes outside and slides and stuff for the kids, basically a joyous week devoted to Bendy and at the end of it, the winners of the tournament get to keep Bendy for life, mint idea that, I'll get onto writing to Arsenal (and Sky cos they'll want to screen it) tomorrow

I could gave sworn like that a certain northern contributor like said like that if Arsenal beat Wigan like he would happily let this thread like fade into the ether. And they say there's no honour in the world like!
