Euro 2012

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You have assumed what it refers to. I can tell you that it refers to the EU. You assume it means something else. What did you (wrongly) assume I was referring to? Your whole post and argument is a joke. I am literally picking it to pieces in front of your eyes. And yet you simply a digging a massive hole to hide in because you have called me a racist and now you can't back down. BTW. Take a look at the Kalou thread with its references to the Jungle Book. Take a look at the Song thread and read comments about "Cameroon buffoons". What you have done is take the moral highground over a simple post that was lambasting the OTT coverage of Irish support. I have a different experience of the Irish, but not being from Ireland I certainly didn't claim that the whole of Ireland was anything like my experience. Just reading through this Forum i can see a multitude of close to the bone posts.

Back off.
One more time then; I am done discussing what you wrote, we have all seen what you wrote. Clarify your threat to have the forum shut down. You have made the threat. Do you stand by that threat?

DB10 i have to say from what i have read i think you have massively overreacted and frankbutcher is very much entitled to his view on the Irish based on his personal experiences!
Nothing he has said has been racist, surely by the fact that you have been the only person offended by anything said should suggest to you that you've misinterpreted comments by frankbutcher and taken offense where offense shouldn't be taken!
There was one that he made a while back about the Irish that was rather hateful to say the least. I kept looking for the winky smiley but it never came. Whether we're talking about that or his more recent efforts about the Irish support at Euro 2012, which I thought were fine on first viewing for the record, I'm not sure.

Firstly - No, what he wrote was racist. He made sweeping racial stereotypical comments. If the word "Irish" had been replaced with the word "Black" would you have still found his comments acceptable?

Secondly, I did not ban him for that. I warned him for it originally. He made threats. That is what he was banned for. We do not accept threats of any kind from anyone on here.
are you asking if i would think someone a racist if they made the comment
"from MY EXPERIENCES black people are being feckless, arrogant and loud-mouthed"

Yeah, mate. I am. The actual quote is; "My experience of the Irish is that they are are largely feckless, arrogant, un-trustworthy cretins"

If someone replaced "Irish" with "Black people" (for example) would you find that a racist comment? Because that is an incredibly racist thing to say. You don't see that? Jesus fucking Christ, mate. Seriously?

There were comments a lot further back which were disgusting.

Since he has been back he has been pushing the limits with his comments looking for a rise.

I would not like to be a Mod here in fairness.

Soooo Back on track I hope.

Czech Rep 1-2 Portugal

Germany 2-0 Greece

Spain 2 - 0 France

England to beat Italy on penalties with Ox scoring the winner.

its not a comment that i would make, however i can see both sides to the argument, the fact he has stated that its his experience and largely (implying not all) means its not a sweeping statement of implied fact!

ill not swap Irish with black, but if i was to say through my experience with them the majority of X nationality of people are untrustworthy, then i do not see a problem with that, i have told you it through my experience and it is in no way to be taken as fact!
if you met 1000, lets say Inuits and 999 of them told a lie every time they spoke, then in your experience the majority of Inuits are liars! and you would be entitled to tell that to others!

i feel you too offense, because you were offended, and then the pair of you have wound each other up exaggerating the original point to the point neither of you can agree to disagree!

Yeah I fancy France to run them close but for Spain to eventually break them down.

What odds on Greece overcoming the Germans ??

So, will the forum be hearing from Butcher's lawyers before or after Jan Vertonghen signs for us?! 8)

I hope, for the forum's sake, that his lawyer is RolyPoly

DB10 is right if you replaced Irish with Black the original comments during the rant made a week to 10 days ago were totally out of order and a week ban would have been permanent instantly!!!

Lets try to get this thread back on track ready for the knockouts tomorrow I want the Czechs to win

I live near Stansted , born in Glasgow , want Engerland to lose , guys at work tell me to 'go home'. They're being racist. I don't give a fuck....My wife's from Dublin and drains my resources 'cos she doesn't work, claims looking after two children 2&4 is a full time job, I tell her to iron my shirts and cook my dinner too and clean...I'm being sexist...bothered...move on....keep your squabble PM...

For the record it is my opinion that frankbutcher went out of his way to provoke a row with the Irish on here recently - personally I dont give a flying fcuk if the comments he made were an accurate reflection of how he really feels or not because I was not going to give him the satisfaction of winding me up but make no mistake, that doesnt lessen what he said cos he was bang out of order. If that is his idea of fun then leave him at it as far as I am concerned and if/when he returns or posts again can I appeal to DB10 to ignore him and he will soon bore and fcuk off
