Deadline day Arshavin saga

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I reckon there is more to this than meets the eye.

First of all, if any deal were to go through today, it would be subject to a work permit. We wouldn't get one in a matter of hours, so therefore, I deduce from that, that we must already have that sorted out, as there would be no point in him being here, otherwise.

Also, you don't just fly from Russia to England on the off-chance that you sign for a team. I reckon there could be a few more twists in this one yet.

it would be great if sky could get the 24 clock, with the 4 quarters of the screen filled by arshavin crying in the rain, the pikey keane at spurs, wenger telling his wife they do not need a new kitchen 'the cooker we have now shows great spirit and determination and do not forget we have the microwave back soon' and then lastly eboue dressed in his tiger suit at home.

TS - Lethal, I've already warned one person about this kind of stuff today...
sorry tone,im irish myself but we gotta admit, keane is a proper pikey

:D :D :D :D

Now that has made me smile Lethal ! Perhaps its just that the "new kitchen is not available at the right price" and is "no better than what we already have" !

By the way Quartz - in what year was your sense of humour bypass operation ?

A clear case of brinkmanship going on apparently AA was stayin in a hotel within a mile of our medical centre because he didn't want to miss out on the move but he received a phone call telling him to return to the airport where there is a private jet waiting for him and he's still there while talks continue

If the talks really are still continuing and it's not just cos he can't take off due to the weather or cos the talks haven't yet been officially terminated, then I believe that's a good sign and there's still hope but it's readily apparent that both clubs are very stubborn, the fee has been agreed but the structure or lack of it as it's pretty clear that Zenit want the entire amount up front, has not, but it seems the player himself badly wants to sign :?

Well there you are then. I don't think the club would have gone through the hassle of getting a work permit, just to be let down a few hours before the deadline. After all, they have known the asking price and the player's demands for ages...

Still, this is modern day Arsenal FC we're talking about...

Read someone on Arseblog saying the same thing this morning. I think this is old news and that he was there earlier, but has now left. Then again, what do I know?

We'll just have to wait and see...
