United away in the Premier League

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Away support a little subdued but like has been said, it wasn't difficult to out sing em like we did outside their pub! The Quadrant! Haha!

Those Man U fans never got going considering they were on the verge. Maybe it was a formality and because they win it so often, the excitement factor is lost.

Left after the final whistle.....a couple of mugs felt it necessary to hang around the Arsenal exit.

Funny, on the train back, 8 of us were singing a medley of songs old and new in full voice amongst a train full of Mancs on their way home to suburban surrey. We heard not a peep out of them whatsoever considering they'd just won the title!

Many posts here are very negative..............we need to get the 12th man into The Grove, lift the feckin players that we have and do what we always did, SUPPORT!
irritating bastard aye

the mouthy mancs outside suddenly went quiet when we said come on then

you feeling ok augie

United needed a draw and got it.Just wish we had given it more of a go.We had nothing to lose.United played like a team with their minds on bigger things and where happy with a 0-0.I just hope Wenger doesnt look too much into this result and thinks there is not much between the teams.Look at the league table Arsene and not the DVD of this match[/quote]

:( I think that is the problem Don, for us that have grave doubts about AW's ability to see the wood from the trees, there is always that worry he is looking for any little thing to confirm in his mind that what he is doing is right, even if the mass of evidence shows he is wrong.

We looked pretty good today stroked the ball around nicely and maintained possession a bit more like our old selves although we didn't really have a cutting edge it was a huge improvement on the totally ineffective displays we put in the CL games.
But as you hinted how much of this was due to the attitude Utd went into the game with, they never really went for us they seemed happy enough to keep it tight and take the point.

So as you say lets hope he isn't going to use this game as a benchmark for where we stand, the recent two games against Chelski and the two against United showed us where we really are, these games mattered and as with last season and previous seasons that is when we showed our true colours, hopefully he will have at last learned his lesson from those games instead of blinkering them out in favour of anything he sees that reflects more favourably on what he wants to believe.

Basil the previous posts are negative cos the team doesn't always do what they did today. We were good and with a bit of luck (eg RvP's header) could have won it. The important thing is that pretty much everyone in yellow and blue tried and looked like they cared! :barscarf: :barscarf:

If only we had done this in the CL game.

Donaldo I am feeling just fine 8) As I have said so many times the very minimum I expect from every single Arsenal team, be that the 1st team, the ladies team or the kids teams, is 100% effort and committment and we got that today so that makes me happy.

The scummy mancs didnt need to win and there is no doubt that they played not to lose more than anything else. If they had of gone at us straight from the start in an effort to overwhelm us again then of course it could well have been another nightmare for us Gooners. As for wenger picking up the wrong messages from todays game as regards where we stand then I am not sure it would make any difference what the result would have been. The man watched the mancs wipe the floor with us in both legs of the semi and thought that there was very little between us so his powers of observation are shot to shit anyway  However to coin a phrase that arsene himself used back in may '98, the best team always wins the league and he can decid to look at our two league results v the mancs if he wants to but the difference in the league table points is there for all to see :( All we have proved in those games is that on a 1 off game (like a cup tie if you will) then we can beat anybody but over a season we be fcuked - a bit like the last few seasons under GG really

Gibbs looked good and thought he's learned a lot from his CL games against Yanited.

Fuck that Manc mascot that was taunting us at half time. Gunnersaurus Rules!

It makes you wonder why it took so long for AW to realise what the solution to Theo getting snubbed out of the game when up against Evra was, most managers and most fans for that matter would have realised by half time in the first game that if we were going to get anything out of theo he had to be moved away from Evra to either the opposite flank or down the middle, how come it took 2 games for AW to see a possible solution.

I think you need to point out that you thought the ref had a bad game.

WTF is the problem with opening new threads after the game??
One of the best things about things about this forum is that the mods rarely intervene or lock things unless they have too? Seems like that is changing as well.

 Don't say that for christ sake AW may be reading, yes he looked OK today but we need a proper Centre Half no more f*cking around trying things out or waiting for players to realise potential just to avoid spending money.

Have you noticed how many threads are now getting less than 10 posts. Threads are not about you having a stunning intellectual idea (the ref was crap) they are about having a conversation about a reasonably big issue like the game against the Mancs. We can have 50 threads a day if your objective is to start new threads but if it is to have an interesting debate about issues it needs to be concentrated.

Man U

Post by Shellshock »

Thought the boys put in a big shift today. I'd give my MOM to RVP a) because he put himself about on his own up front when United were often defending with 10 men behind the ball b) because he was really up for the game and was encouraging the fans before the game c) was the first one over to the fans after the game. I thought Cesc, Denilson and Nasri were the pick of the midfield, all the back four did a great job (please practise your crossing though Bacca). Flabby did a good job with what little he had to do.

Considering we were playing against one of the best teams, if not the best, in Europe, I thought we took the game to them and with a bit more luck with the final ball, we might have got 3 points. United created nothing apart from Rooney's header. And bear in mind that Homer Dean was intent on handing out yellows to every challenge that Arsenal players made but conveniently ignored similar ones by anyone in a red shirt.

Overall, a good job well done. Haven't looked at the website yet so wasn't sure why Adebanjo wasn't playing.

So many Mancs on the M1. Couldn't believe it.
