Eh?

I thought he was massively at fault for BOTH goals! his marking on Ibrahimovic was woeful to say the least!

Excellent??? blimey Swale
He was best midfielder in the first half and was ok when he went back center back.. almunia was at fault for first and diaby for second not Song
Not Song then?

Odd. He lost his man (Ibrahimovic) woefully on both goals, didn't he? :? he was in a great position to read the play and mark Ibrahimovic, yet on both goals he failed miserably.

I thought he could, and should, have done MUCH better.
I agree he could have done better but diaby never closed down the play who played the thru ball.. thats why i think he was at fault.. as for the first one, Song had him covered and ibrahimovich had nowhere to go had almunia not given him the option of the lob

That was a tale of even against the best our fitness can win out. They were out on their feet by 65 minutes, although their closing down had dominated the game until that point once they couldn't do that we came onto them and Walcott was exactly what they didn't need. The way to beat them is pace going in behind their full backs who push so high up and him and Eboue did it to a tee.

Very brave comeback all round and especially brave from Cesc. Bendtner always looked a threat when we got the ball near their box despite limited service and Nasri had a good game as well.

We will need to score twice next week to win but we've shown we can do that, especially against second choice centre backs. Rosicky for a half fit Cesc will be a fair swap for us. Just hope Gallas is back because Song was exposed there and let Ibra go for both goals whereas he was our best midfielder. If not play Sol.

If we're still level with 20 to go in the Nou Camp I'm sure I won't be the only one believing. :barscarf:

Song was good in the first half, very very poor second half when he moved to centre back.

Even Arsene said he was shocked how we conceded both goals so easily.

Sometimes i wonder if you should be carrying a white stick Swale.
NOT HIS FAULT HE GOT MOVED TO CB
WAS IMMENSE AT DM ALL NIGHT THEN DID A BETTER JOB THAN MOST WOULDA AT CB
if sol/sly cant play regular then spend some dough on as cb but dont blame songy

I should say that Song was amongst those at fault, and certainly not the only one!

It was an awful defensive display.... yet, as an Arsenal fan, I'm not entirely surprised as it's something of an Arsenal speciality in big games

As was said before...but in a different context..........
The first person i would sell in the close season is Arshavin. For 90% of the season he has looked totally disinterested including tonight. Diaby blows hot and cold and hopefully will be on form next week.

I can see Barcelona be slightly nervous next week without their two first choice centre halfs. With the right attitude we can win this.

Bendnter to get a hat trick

As a great man once said, Barca are a great team with the ball and an ordinary team without it.
Now swap names in that quote to Arshavin for Abrahimovich and Diaby for Busquets...prolly what the Blaugrana were thinking too.......

My point was only that Song wasn't excellent!!!!! that's all.

Of course it's not his fault he was playing CB, but his slack marking of Ibrahimovic on BOTH goals was poor, and I think it was more down to him switching off than being unfamiliar with playing CB!

The thing that gets me is how naive we are in defence, we are a young team but Wenger is an old coach surely he can organise things better than that.... We should have lost 6-2 tonight its like Sunday league football half the time :banghead:

I think he was pushing up too early and that's what put Song under pressure for that goal.

Whatever, whatever....

we now know that we have to get a win in the second leg.

In some ways, it's better than trying to hold out for a draw.
