Watching Australia v Denmark.
Half time is 0-0.
This altitude really seems to be bothering the majority of the players - lots of misjudging of high balls and the ball really runs along the ground too. Keepers are collecting almost every through ball virtually unchallenged.
Bendtner is not playing due to a groin injury. Seems to be quite comfortable on the bench though, soaking up the sunshine and watching the game through his sunglasses.

The goalies are giving out shit about the new ball, saying it's so light it's like some plastic crap you'd buy in a supermarket. Should make for some "interesting" Flappianski-style mishaps during the World Cup...RaM wrote:Watching Australia v Denmark.

Well I think you have to wonder whether its the ball or the altitude...DB10GOONER wrote:The goalies are giving out shit about the new ball, saying it's so light it's like some plastic crap you'd buy in a supermarket. Having watched a fair amount of rugby played in South Africa I can confirm that altitude definitely makes a difference in the flight of the ball!
Australia won 1-0, the goal came out of nothing when the defence just seemed to misjudge/poorly deal with a cross. (Liverpool's Agger was amongst it...)
Should be some keeping errors and maybe some nice looking long distance goals. RVP could have some fun if he can judge the altitude himself...
Almost every cross put in during this match ended up travelling from one sideline and bouncing outside the box on the opposite side of the field. Schwarzer was so worried by it he spent half time on the pitch working on catching crosses and making clearances.

I live in the north BDB so it's sterling, and I have been collecting 2 quid a week from everyone for almost 2 years. There are 16 of us in the draw, each person picked a team from the top 16 seeds and one from the bottom 16. I got Uruguay from the bottom lot.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:Fuck me Sid, I know you use that funny Monopoly Money over there, but do you work with a bunch of Millionaires of something? it's not the ball, and in the case db10 is mentioning it's neither the altitude. the goalkeeper that mentioned the ball as being "one of those you buy in the supermarket", who also said it is a "joke, a terrible ball", was julio cesar, brazilian keeper. the fact is that julio cesar played in his career for flamengo and inter milan, both clubs are nike sponsored clubs. also, julio cesar has a very nice nike contract. and the ball is adidas.RaM wrote:Well I think you have to wonder whether its the ball or the altitude...DB10GOONER wrote:The goalies are giving out shit about the new ball, saying it's so light it's like some plastic crap you'd buy in a supermarket. ok, the ball is a little lighter, but it's not that much. i haven't seen any adidas or any other brand sponsored 'keeper complain about the ball yet.

Casillas has said the same as Cesar. Not sure who he has a personal sponsorship deal with but Real & Spain are both Adidas & Casillas is captain of one, vice-captain of the other.brazilianGOONER wrote:it's not the ball, and in the case db10 is mentioning it's neither the altitude. the goalkeeper that mentioned the ball as being "one of those you buy in the supermarket", who also said it is a "joke, a terrible ball", was julio cesar, brazilian keeper. the fact is that julio cesar played in his career for flamengo and inter milan, both clubs are nike sponsored clubs. also, julio cesar has a very nice nike contract. and the ball is adidas.RaM wrote:Well I think you have to wonder whether its the ball or the altitude...

Basically keepers say this at the start of every world cup.
