Yep, cant see how anyone could begrudge him wanting to go at this point. All along I’ve said the only problem I’d have with him would be if he tried to force through a deal on the cheap. Because he himself signed the contract extension (without a gun to his head) that put Arsenal in a position whereby we wouldn’t have to do that, and that contract no doubt came with a pay increase. He signed the contract & took the pay rise, now he has to accept that he cant just leave for just any old offer Barca fax Arsenal’s way. And imo the shirt thing last night was just another blatant example of Barca’s ongoing attempts to make Cesc’s position at Arsenal untenable, so to speak, & force through a deal on the cheap.DB10GOONER wrote:flash gunner wrote:couldnt blame him for wanting to go.
Me too - cannot blame him in the slightest.
We can call it larking about, and there was definitely an element of pissed up mates just having fun, but putting a Real shirt on Xavi, Iniesta or Puyol would be larking about, especially as they were in Madrid. Barca players putting a Barca shirt on a player so heavily linked with Barca clearly has more of an agenda to it. Fair enough on their part I guess, it’s probably just clever “negotiationâ€
Erm I didn't remember saying we wereWhere as we are a paragon of virtue after persuading Chamakh to let his contract run down so Bordeaux get fuck all for their best player
What annoys me isn't the shirt thing, its what Reina said

I do not agree with this one bit, he is like thierry Henry, he loves playing for arsenal football club and always will. Even when he moves, he would move for completely different reasons. Your mind has been infected ! This is what the media does to you.TeeCee wrote:Cesc said 'have been' first and then quickly changed it supposedly.
There's no way Arsenal will sell Cesc this summer, it would make Wenger look too big a mug after saying what he's said. However, it's nailed on that he will leave after this coming season, probably after getting a final sweetener of a couple of million for his last season like Henry got. It's a farce. The guy has been fantastic for Arsenal but wants to leave, there is no point in keeping him because he DOES NOT want to play for Arsenal. He'll still do a decent job for us next season cause that's the guy he is but he won't be 100% committed, you can't be when you don't really want to be somewhere.
Arsenal football club are terrified of losing him because it shows us up for what we are.......wannabe's, a club with what they purport to be ambition but realistically they are clinging to the hope that in the next 10 years other clubs will fall BACK to where we are because of their financial state. It's hard to accept as an Arsenal fan but what else can we do?

Question for DB10, Flash & Percy......ye all believe that cesc is going to leave but are you all saying it will be this summer ? Do you believe that this not for sale statements from wenger and the club is just posturing ? If it is not just posturing and cesc really wants to go how do you all envisage this playing out ?
Personally I felt he would leave this summer and have said so for the last 12 months but now I am not so sure
I mean it looks like the club are really determined to hold fast against barca's approaches and if so it will force cesc into a huge dilemma.....does he sit tight for another 12 months or try and force his way out ? As I said before making a commitment to cesc allowing him to leave in 12 months time is not an option at all for me and would be the worst possible scenario and being forced to stay for next season if his heart aint in it is not acceptable either imo. Suggesting that cesc wouldnt just go through the motions "cos he is just not that type of player" is quite frankly laughable cos I am damn sure nobody thought that of PV4 and henry before their last seasons did they ?
In summation I really dont know how this will play out nor do I know which scenario is for the best for this club and team. Ideally I would want a final and definite decision very quickly so that cesc and the club can move on and start preparing for the new season but as a club we just dont work that way so we could be set for 7 or 8 more weeks of this shite

i'm tired of all this cesc bollox, i think we should do the honorable thing and publicly state that barca can have him as long as they publicly admit to tapping up, pay the fines and agree to a minimum of 50million, done deal.
whats the point in keeping hold of him, we'll quite likely to win fcuk all next season esp with AW's (pretty stupid, and probably the boards) notion of only going for the CL and CL qualification.
so instead we'll have the whole of the next season saying amongst ourselves that he's a wasted talent, he deserves better, this is his last season blah blah...sell him and lets get back to fighting for fourth.

I was convinced he would go this summer and still believe he wants to go. I feel the club is playing hard to get more cash for a change but i dont want him to stay for one more year, thats the absolute maximum we will get out of him, just for him to play at 75% for us knowing his mind is elsewhere. If we get good money then we should let him go as he obviously wants to go.augie wrote:Question for DB10, Flash & Percy......ye all believe that cesc is going to leave but are you all saying it will be this summer ? What bugs me about modern day Arsenal fans is they think we are the most perfect club in the world and its just not true i have written this 3 times now but in many ways Barca havent been worse than anyone else in this transfer saga and we will receive big big money at some point as opposed to us who obviously persuaded Chamakh to let his contract run down so we could get him for fuck all so have the Bordeaux forums been slagging us off? Im sure we 'had no class etc etc etc'

Yeah, agree with that. Said the same on one of the other Cesc threads earlier in the summer. And not only that but Wenger was publicly talking up Chamakh in the press the whole time, despite previously claiming he doesn't like managers talking about other club's players.flash gunner wrote:What bugs me about modern day Arsenal fans is they think we are the most perfect club in the world and its just not true i have written this 3 times now but in many ways Barca havent been worse than anyone else in this transfer saga and we will receive big big money at some point as opposed to us who obviously persuaded Chamakh to let his contract run down so we could get him for fuck all so have the Bordeaux forums been slagging us off?
