The Wenger Quote Thread.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not a fucking prayer.....that one will make its debut in 2017. The majority of the Bowl's inhabitants still love him.....as soon as it gets to next Summer and the deal has 12 months left to run, all the Red Action boys will be out with their "Real fans have patience" banners and the Dear Leader will carry on regardless

2011 was definitely the year that "special circumstances" made its debut. Tripped out after the Carling Cup debacle it received another mention at Old Trafford and I'm certain on several other occasions.

"In the red physically" was another cracking new addition, coming particularly as it did in September after a Summer with no major tournaments

And above all else "super quality" as quoted on the 6th August, before loading up with Park.

The usual old favourites i.e. "the handbrake", "mental strength", "spirit", "jaded" etc got their usual airings at various points but the three above were all newbies I think

I wonder what little treats 2012 has in store
How about "adaption period" in an attempt to explain why Park has failed to play a single minute in the league... and rarely even makes the bench.

Odd thing is, we've signed many players from France before, and none of them needed an "adaption period", and when you consider he's 26 and the captain of South Korea, you do wonder what he's hiding. (presumably, he realises Park is shit??)
g88ner - yep, we're having that one. The 26 year old who needs a six month adaptation period. Love it. We all know that Wenger would never lie though ( ) and he did say that all the players he signed were his primary targets

Surely the phrase '2-3 weeks' will get re-classified as well as it can mean 2-3 weeks or 6 months in Wengerworld!!

the biggest question for me is: how do you adapt to something you're staying miles away from? adaptation period means you'll play but not very well, since you're adapting. how is he gonna learn the hardships of the english league sitting his ass at london colney?

for me it's deffo one of the two: the guy's here for marketing reasons, or wenger saw a 5 minute tape of him playing, decided to buy him, and now realizes the guy is shite.

Exceptional circumstances and unusual mistakes

I think it's time the man was sectioned.

Yes, how fucking unusual:

1. Missing ample chances whilst controlling the first half of a game
2. Irresponsibly getting someone sent off in the second half
3. Conceding a header after a goalkeeper's error

Yes, Arsene a real fucking rarity list that one above. Never seen us do any of that before.

Is 'unusual circumstances' the 2012 equivalent of 'special circumstances', or would the Arseneballs dictionary define as follows:

Special circumstances = catastrophic schoolboy error, entirely of own making
Unusual circumstances = err...usual circumstances

I have a new definition for you Arsene

Self Harm = consistently treading on the same fucking rake for 7 years, inflicting pain and suffering on one's self combined with a seeming unwillingness to want to rectify

Given his track record of self harm I hope the catering staff only allow him to use plastic cutlery and tupperware

The twat has been opening his mouth again unfortunately.....

"I don't see much happening this window, only those clubs with exceptional resources"
What, like Arsenal with 50m in the bank? Oh, maybe not :banghead:

"I don't want to sign a long term left back...we have to pay all these people"
What, like Diaby and Park? Those two players you signed who contribute so much? :banghead: :banghead:

And finally.....
"Give Henry time"
He's here for six weeks you fucking retard, what are we looking for, 30 minutes of play?

You're a fucking embarrassment Wenger.

I'll nominate one from after the Wolves game...
I can complain about the referee or not. We had enough to win the game without these decisions.
We had enough to win the game? No we didn't, because we fucking drew! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It's like me failing my driving test for going the wrong way round a roundabout then complaining when the examiner gives me the verdict. "Well, I think I had enough to pass this test."

Fuck! :banghead:

Jesus - that must be the tenth time we've heard that and yet every other window the amount spent breaks the previous record, and it isn't just City and Chelsea spending it all too. Stoke, Newcastle, Spurs, Liverpool - are we not able to spend similar amounts to them ?

This window will see us outspent by Spurs again (Hoilett and Samba will highly likely end up there), QPR, Liverpool and possibly one or two others outside of City, United, and the Chavs

As an Evening Standard article showed in the week, Premier League football has been completely recession proof. Attendances of the top flight London clubs are up and the ticket prices are higher.

£80m in free cash......yeah, we better just sit on that and wait for the whole world to implode

Supposedly an intelligent man that can read a balance sheet too........there are people that have been on a basic book-keeping course that can read a set of accounts better than him.

I forgot this little gem, also in early August, when we were being linked with Jadson and Mata (and of course we all know what came about there....fuck all as usual)..

"We have two markets: one is internal and one is external. Internal is the young players that we have - players who are inside the club are very important"

I've heard lots of bullshit about 'market theory' in my time, but this little gem was one of my favourites. Arsenal FC - the only club to have created their own market :D
