Diane Abbott - you don't like/respect her so that is proof I am way of the mark? If you don't accept that absent fathers is part of the problem then so be it but it is the truth. Fact is young men who have no father active in their lives are more likely to fail at school, fail in employment and have a criminal record.

Good guy - no one who carries a gun is a good guy. He has been in trouble with the police before. So how am I of the mark?

The police have lied - so that is proof they are lying now?

Dog handlers - you have obviously researched this and compared their dog handling skills to those of many police authorities across the world, so I will have to take your word for it.

The reality is that too many people, like you, are prepared to act as apologists for these people. Usually the most guilty of this (ironically) are white, middle class do-gooders who live far from the incidents but are desperate to prove their PC credentials.

If you know me, or even read my posts on here you would know certainly I am far from a PC do gooder. I think most posters here would agree with that much.

You're point about dog handlers, is irrelevant. I never said I reserached them? You have missed the point I am against these dog handlers in any fashion and especially the way the Met use them. If you are for them, I assume you agree with their intimidation of normal football fans with their method of policing.

The police have lied so far about this case. Yes that is clearly a fact. You have assumed that the murdered man was a scumbag that shoot at police, without any evidence. I have waited for facts to arrive IPCC, which have already stated the bullet was police issue. Forgive me if I dont believe off hand Met statements until we receive some sort of factual evidence.

Contrary to popular believe, carrying a gun is not always a crime. Certainly not one punishable by death. Especially when this gun, which we have not received full evidence of, has not been fired.

Being "in trouble" with police us not justification either. The mans cousin was stabbed to death in April and he may have felt under threat.

Alot of these people are unemployed or homeless. Nobody will help them so they have to look out for themselves.

Agreed. My dad wasn't around when I was a kid and my step dad was an abusive prick. Does that give me the right to walk around with a gun? Your childhood will have some influence on how you end up, of course it will, but ultimately it's down to every person to decide whether they're gonna work hard and make a life for themselves or waste their life comitting crimes and potentially paying the price for that decision.

I didn’t say anything about you being PC, I was making that point about others.

Carrying a gun is "not always a crime". People that carry guns around that part of London are trouble, pure and simple.

Funny how so many people involved in knife and gun crimes and end up dead are always the 'good guys'. As for his cousin being stabbed, emmm what sort of people he was hanging out with?!

As for a lot of them being unemployed and homeless, how do you know this to be the case? Many involved in the crimes of the weekend were minors according to other locals. Minors are neither unemployed nor homeless. And anyway, isn’t it great how the thugs who behaved like this have added to the ranks of the homeless and unemployed this morning. Shame on them and shame on anyone who defends them.

Did you know the dead man?
Because if you did not, then how can you pass judgement?
One paper says he was part of a gang and a criminal.
Maybe he was? Maybe he just knew some dodgy people because he went to school with them and carried on living in the same area?

But the point in all this is the manner (If you'll pardon the pun!) in which he was killed.

If he was not armed, and was sitting in a minicab, and did not shoot at the police, then he was executed.
Personally I prefer the rule of law and the right to a fair trial.

I know people who have been murdered, does that make me a bad person?


It is a simple fact that the mood on the streets of London has not been good for a long while and so many kids carry themselves as if they were some sort of badman that it creates and escalates a culture of aggression.
Add that to disadvantaged families and you get a powder keg environment.

As for the rioters and looters they are just criminals. Regardless of cuts to youth centres, though I do feel sympathy for those affected by the cuts.

But as Sammy says, there are jobs out there an there are opportunities and you just have to have the strength of mind to get on with it.
Perhaps more mentoring programmes would be a good thing, because lack of a male role model in families is not a good thing in many cases.
