Re: Midweek games
TBH i would prefer us to qualify for the CL but then on the other hand besides from the revenue it provides (which we dont spend anyway)whats the point ive said it b4, 14/15 yrs in the CL and only 1 final appearance thats a disgrace.
The only downside for not being in the CL next season is that we will be in the channel 5 cup.

Re: Midweek games
Of course there is a chance that we'll finish top 4 - in fact if you look at it "on paper" as many on here like to do, then you would argue its probable.g88ner wrote:why are you so sure we'll not finish top 4?SteveO 35 wrote: Whoever makes the trip will be in for a miserable time as Woy's farewell turns into a party and we troop off to the prospect of the Channel 5 Cup![]()
Surely, there's some optimism in you somewhere?
I mean, there is no way in the world, back in January, you could have predicted we'd be sat in 3rd with 2 games to go... most would have dismissed our chances as pretty much zero, no? so with that in mind, hasn't the fact most people have been totally wrong put any doubt in your mind that they may surprise you again?
After all, it's not as if we're playing Citeh and ManUre... we're playing Norwich and West Brom.surely even the biggest doom and gloomers must confess there's a chance, surely?!

I genuinely don't understand the definitive negativity by some on here... it's bonkers if you step back, take your doomsday hat off, and just look at all the evidence.
Our fate is not certain. There's a chance. Definitely.
And when there's a chance... there's hope... and that's what football fans cling to isn't it??that grain of hope?? - if not, why bother? what's the motivation?
No offence, but it sounds like your passion for Arsenal has gone- I hope I never join you in that deep pit of resignation
You're right I didn't expect the run of wins that we had and at the turn of the year, would I have taken this position - of course.
However, when that momentum was building we beat Liverpool, Spurs, Man City, Everton and Newcastle - all really tough games and it seemed to me that because we had them coming thick and fast, the team really picked up. RvP couldn't put a foot wrong, we had more players coming back from injury than going out with injuries (the full backs were key). Everything seemed to click
As soon as we lost Arteta and the Wigan game in the process the whole mood changed. Now we've lost Walcott and we haven't won a game since. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big Feo, Feo fan - but his and Arteta's contributions as our second and third highest goalscorers have been important. And now they won't be there. The midfield looks unbalanced, the style of play paceless and rigid, and we're back to how it felt in January.
Forget the fact that its Norwich and West Brom - as I said before we've had easy run-ins for seasons now. 3-2 defeat at Wigan after being 2 up with 10 mins left, rolled over at Blackburn after that etc.
Yes, I am downright miserable with all things Arsenal and I hope it isn't catching because I don't wish it upon you. I feel like my faith has been tested to the fucking brink for years now. My post on the other thread summed up how I feel about the ownership structure and management of fans expectations. Results always mitigate that and cheer you up, but when we embark on another shit run, playing tedious football, spiralling to another collapse, then it really does fucking get to me
Re: Midweek games
Is that aimed at me? if so, you've totally and utterly missed my point, mate.frankbutcher wrote:The thing that makes me lasugh about the tinters on this thread..........
Now we are threatened for 3rd, we are now told that "no-one would have believed we would be in the box seat for 3rd back in December. You would have been called mad." These tinters go round in circles to justify whatever position Wenger has steered us to. 3rd is still an under-achievement and yet we are now being told it is an over-achievement. Unbelievable!!
I want Wenger gone and yes, 3rd and no trophy is definitely underachieving, but there's nothing we can do about that now is there? 3rd is the best we can do, so for now, I'll consider that my short term aim.
That's not rosetinted, it's realistic. It's practical.
There's much bigger issues, of course - but that can wait until the end of the season. For me, anyway.
Re: Midweek games
The thing that makes me laugh about the "realists" on this thread is how they label anyone without a negative outlook all the time as a "rosetinter".frankbutcher wrote:The thing that makes me lasugh about the tinters on this thread..........

Exactly. If we can't beat Norwich and West Brom in must win games then we really don't deserve to be in CL.flash gunner wrote:To be honest tonights games dont matter if we win both our games 3rd is ours if we dont and fall out the top4 we dont deserve any better the league table doesnt lie at the end of each season
For what its worth I think we will win both games and all we be rosy in the garden of Saint Wenger

Re: Midweek games
Spuds have Villa away and Fulham at home. I really can't see Villa getting anything from that game as they are fucking awful, Fulham at home is nailed on 3 points too. That means we must win our remaining 2 games without fail or no CL football for us next season.
Re: Midweek games
I wish I shared your optimism. We will plod slowly sideways with no ideas, creativity or vision to open up a defence. We'll give both teams plenty of time to get everyone back behind the ball. We'll look dull, one dimensional & will play with absolutely no urgency or sense of what is riding on these games. Wenger will flap and throw his arms about on the sidelines. Maybe a few water bottles will get kicked. It makes me wanna fucking scream.Peeman wrote:For what its worth I think we will win both games and all we be rosy in the garden of Saint Wenger
I hope to God i'm wrong though.

All this unecessary labelling of posters into little groups just because you don't agree with their views is pathetic. It's not a surprise that soon as you and a few other famous posters joined the forums that it all went to shit.

Come on mate no one is stopping you having your view and as long as you dont get abused (being called a rosetinter or realist isnt abuse in my book) then keep debating your point if abuse is posted thats a different storyMM99 wrote:It's not biting, it's trying to prevent what got the old forum closed downfrankbutcher wrote:It's uncanny how the tinters were the ones that bit on that....Oh - but you're not a tinter. bit? .... so it was a wind up?frankbutcher wrote:It's uncanny how the tinters were the ones that bit on that....Oh - but you're not a tinter. Ok then......

I want Wenger gone and consider this season a failure... how am I a rosetinter?? I don't understand.
Is the only reason you're saying I'm a rosetinter because I'm refusing to give up on 3rd/4th place?? if so, that's nuts.
I can't help feel you're just on the wind up here, and if so, that's a shame as I'm not the sort of person who gets involved in that sort of thing, and don't really want to either. I post my genuine thoughts and don't really want to be dragged into someones game.
