I don't even think the armband matters these days with Wenger, no competition = shit players playing alot of games, even if there's competition for their place (e.g. Ramsey) it doesn't matter in Wengerworld.falkirk goon wrote:He has been shit a lot this season, Mr undroppable it seems cos of the armband

Make Per or Arteta the captain. This *word censored* couldn't lead a blind man.

It really is baffling.franksav63 wrote:TV5's decline is alarming! Another mistake strewn game today and is now vying with Djourou and Squillachi in the shit stakes, what the fuck has happened to him? Surely another example of our brilliant coaching system...![]()

Its a fukin mystery - Kos too seems to have regressed. After RVP I thought he was our best player last season.

Yep, totally agree, but is it really that much of a mystery? Really?armchair supporter wrote:It really is baffling.franksav63 wrote:TV5's decline is alarming! Allright he was prone to the odd mistake but now hes a fukin disaster waiting to happen. After he fuked up today I expected him to be bombing upfield every two minutes to make amends.

Adams, Baresi, Maldin & Cafu would play like blind idiots when coached by Wenger. I no longer subscribe to the belief that we have shit defenders (bar Santoss), they stink because it comes down from the boss.

This!... I don't think it's just defenders, I also think the Ox has regressed slightly, he doesn't look as good now as when he first arrived.... so much for the coach of the decade!officepest wrote:Adams, Baresi, Maldin & Cafu would play like blind idiots when coached by Wenger. Re: Who do you want as new captain/Vermaelen question?
I think Koscielny's confidence has been knocked by not starting every week. Still, I think he is in better form than Vermaelen, as others have said it really is surprising how dodgy he is looking.
With that being said, I would still play him at left back while Gibbs is out, with Koscielny partnering Mertesacker, because Santos is such a liability that every team we face targets him. You can bet your last penny that Schalke will again on Tuesday night.

Re: Who do you want as new captain/Vermaelen question?
I was absolutely slated a month or so ago for daring to suggest that BFG and kos should be our 1st choice centre backs - the guy is too much of a renegade/loose cannon to play the position responsibly
Re: Who do you want as new captain/Vermaelen question?
And so you should be again - have you seen how Koscielny has played when given the chance? Against Reading he was the worst defender on the field - tossed around as usual by any forward with a physical presence, in this case the beast of a journeyman that is Jason Roberts.augie wrote:I was absolutely slated a month or so ago for daring to suggest that BFG and kos should be our 1st choice centre backs - the guy is too much of a renegade/loose cannon to play the position responsibly
The sort of mistake that TV5 made for that first goal today was the sort of shit Koscielny produces on a regular basis. He was progressing last season but still absolutely shite every time we come up against the likes of Zamora, Carroll etc

Re: Who do you want as new captain/Vermaelen question?
I agree that Wenger makes some of our defenders look bad but Vermaelen this year has just made fuck-up upon fuck-up for no other reason than a lack of concentration and lack of personal discipline. If he was really a leader I'd like to have seen him blank RvP in the tunnel and then smash him on the field. Seeing everybody hugging van Staplecunt in the tunnel before was disgusting after he basically released a statement saying they're not good enough players.
Looking at their defence today, fat bastard left back aside Sagna, BFG and Vermaelen are definitely better than Rafael, Ferdinand and Evans. What made us look better defensively in the first few games was that we were pressing very well, but since then we've regressed. We put no pressure on the ball most of the time and when we do 3 or 4 players will press the same ball and a simple pass through them opens us right up.

So we drop TV5 and put in one of Koscielny, Djourou, Squillaci or Miquel ??

Exactly, none of those are anywhere near good enough bar Koscielny and he's hardly put in a sterling shout for a regular place with displays like Chelsea and Reading.SteveO 35 wrote:So we drop TV5 and put in one of Koscielny, Djourou, Squillaci or Miquel ??

Yep 100% drop TV5 and give Kos a run. Or while gibbs is out play TV5 as LB.SteveO 35 wrote:So we drop TV5 and put in one of Koscielny, Djourou, Squillaci or Miquel ??

Dropping Santos is a separate issue - he could play Miquel there anyway, who is a much better option. I even think Francis Coquelin has showed more quality as a full back than Fatty Santos.armchair supporter wrote:Yep 100% drop TV5 and give Kos a run. On what basis does Koscielny warrant a run of games - he's been absolutely fucking abject when he's played this season. At least TV5 is brave - we'll have the best non-tackling, non-heading CB partnership in the world if the BOG (Big Overrated German) and Ligue Deux pair up at the back
