Arsenal v Sunderland match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

My prediction? Thanks for asking -

We'll go 1-0 down to an early goal and RvP will score a couple late on to secure the win 8)

T.S wrote:Jesus Christ - I find it astonishing how precious people have been getting on here recently.

"Waaaaah, he called me names",

"OMFG, you called the manager A CRIMINAL!!!, I'm telling teacher!",

"ner-ner, you don't go to every single game - that makes you a shit fan. Not like me - I'm a super fan, ner ner!"

and "boo-hoo, you questioned my integrity as a fan".

Lads - relax. Please. It's an internet forum. It isn't that important.

SantaPoldi - HighburyJD called you a prick because that superfan bullshit is hallmark behavior of a prick. Yeah, I know, you shouldn't go around name calling on here, that's true, but if you're going to act like a prick, don't be surprised if someone calls you on it (see Chris Rock for clarification on this).

HighburyJD - Cool it with the crusade to crush any WOBs (or whatever the acronym is). By all means, say whatever you want to say, but now whenever Babatunde posts, we're all waiting for the inevitable HighburyJD follow-up post where you quote each individual line and correct him like a school teacher. Now, in essence there is nothing wrong with that - but you're becoming like some anti-Babatunde, which might sound ideal to you, but it can actually get tiresome after a while. I know you have some previous with him (was it him accusing you of being racist? I forget now) but let it go man. You don't like him - we get it. You want to express that - that's fine. Just don't express it by acting exactly like him!

Oh, and can I just say - I found all of that "mods, mods, please take down that horrible, illegal thing Babatunde said," pretty nauseating if I'm honest. Not that I'm any Babatunde apologist, but come on man, that's like Rivaldo getting hit by the ball in his knee and going down holding his face. I am aware of the real reason why you made a big deal out of that (see my hazy knowledge on your previous with him), but it just left a really bad taste in my mouth. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.

I don't know. I don't even care that much. Just trying to increase the peace a little. The more chilled out people here are, the less "modding" I feel like I have to do (even though I still do absolutely none) 8)

So, in close, JD & SPoldi - nothing personal. Just cut out all the vendetta stuff, yeah?

Up the Arse.
Eloquently put sir! 8)

I agree with 99% of that and will try not to raise to the Bababait
(which will be easier now there's actual football to talk about)
and cool the crusade?? seriously?
you have a message board that is mostly anti the manager, with a significant % of them constantly expressing hatred for him
in the real world I've never heard anybody Arsenal, Chelski or Sperz express as low an opinion of our manager as is common currency here,
he has many many flaws, so did George Graham.
I'm guessing Chapman did to (there are prob a few on here who remember well)
Hatred for somebody you dont know is sad for the person who feels it
and embarrassing from our fans

I'm deeply hurt by RVPs actions and his 'little boy screaming ManYoo' BS
(that in itself is a bit sad TBH)
and I've lost respect for him - but I would never seriously attach to him 1% of the bile laden spew our manager gets on here

also one specific issue libellous accusations of our manager being a thief
no way that can just stand - here, on a Sperz site, general football site or anywhere
people claiming somebody is a thief have to put up or shut up

as for the game
I have a fantasy where ArtetaDiabyAzorla mesh perfectly and look like a midfield that can win us the league
in our very best seasons our most important goalscorers all get off the mark early
best case scenario is all our new signings + one other scoring...
(think I accused somebody of being in a dreamworld earlier this thread...)

just seen Saha has scored 6 times first day of the season, as well as always fluking goals v us...

pace on both flanks - creating space for Cazorla?

watching Arseplayer buildup
I think the RVP carried Arsenal trope is grossly overplayed
last season at the Grove vanStaplec*nt slots home his first chance after 30 secs (nicely made by Gervinho)
then scores a late FK winner
pretty uncontroversially carried us that day...
