Reading in the "whatever its called this year cup"

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Pleased with that starting line up. Miquel at left back is a welcome addition and the midfield five has a decent enough look to it - two naturally defensive midfielders and 3 more attack minded players. The Chamster is the best of a bad bunch of options up top.

Be interesting to see how this Martinez lad does - lets face it he can't be worse than Dumb or Dumber....can he ?
Personally I don't rate Miquel at all from what I've seen. Isn't he a centre-half that gets shifted out to left-back by the strength in depth amongst our CBs? :rubchin: :rubchin:

northbank123 wrote:Quite looking forward to it: other than Djourou, Miquel and Chamakh I'm intrigued as to how all of them get on. I'm loathe to admit it but there were times in the last few games where we couldn't string any moves together and could have used Walcott's pace as a different option. I think Arshavin could have a part to play too, I would certainly prefer him to Gervinho and as has been suggested by one or two on here I'd like to see him given a chance to play up top alongside Giroud/Podolski instead of this fucking 4-5-1.
That's the one problem but not sure what else he should do? He clearly doesn't want to play either TV5 or Mertesacker - I disagree with that and would play one of them - but if he's opting to leave players fresh for OT then in a race between Djourou and Squidgy then its Djourou every time.

Johan Djourou - Arsenal's longest serving player ! If you'd suggested in 2006 that would be the case in six years time you'd have been kept in the padded cell

Last couple of times I've seen him play there he's looked good. Far far better than Fat Boy Santos. He'll be OK

Fantastic, what a front 3!! 8)

Theo won't sign a new contract and could be leaving on a free; Arshavin's contract won't be renewed, and he's likely to leave in January; and Chamakh lost interest last year!

Could there be a less committed strike-force in existence? :?

I've just noticed that Squillaci is on the bench. Jesus Christ - if any of the Gooners travelling to Reading have played 10 mins at centre half in the 9th division of your local pub league can you make yourself known to the fourth official just in case there's an injury

Other than Park, has there been a more pathetic Wenger signing since we moved to the Bowl ?

Niall Quinn's just commented how the League Cup win under GG in 1987 gave the team confidence to win more trophies.

Heaven forbid.

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE SEASON SO FAR......sod that bloody bloated Eurotrash
