As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm not saying he would fit in but the spoilt brats at the Nou Camp moaning because he's not better than Messi doesn't change the fact he carried this team and pretty much bossed this league for years.
No joke i take football seriously coach it ref it .. live it breath it.. NO Joke!!! maybe when you watch the next game with cesc playing i suggest if you can watch him off the ball also
But that's my opinion but were all pundits aren't we
It's a lot more difficult to monitor someone off-the-ball and TV and in any event I'd generally rather stick needles in my eyes than watch Spanish football. Obviously he hasn't made the impact people had hoped but he was always going to be a wrong fit there imo, with the likes of Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi inked in he was always going to be filling in wherever needed. I'm not suggesting Barcelona should have changed their whole system to adapt around him but equally it's not difficult to see why he hasn't lived up to their sky-high expectations.
Like I said he carried our team for years and years and was a fucking boss in the PL. Obviously didn't get the trophies his personal performances deserved. Barkley has scored a few good goals this season but he's not even an automatic starter for Everton. We already have a talented young CM who we're struggling to get the best out of in Wilshere, let's not bother paying a fortune for the luxury of another one.
And this by no means automatically means I'm advocating re-signing Cesc - a joy to watch and until that last half a season he showed unwavering commitment. He hated pricks like Cole, Lampard and Ferdinand and the way he celebrated against Chavs, United and Spurs was great. It would be painful to see him go to United but imo it's a luxury signing we don't need and I don't see the point in spending a fortune just so he doesn't go to United.
Would love to see him back, I believe he would get back to his best in no time.Imagine Arsenal actually controlling tempo of games in midfield again. And he could finish.Mighn't make me popular on this site, but I would gladly let Cazorla go if we got Cesc back. Do people not think that the Hull game would have been totally different with Fabregas in midfield. Better passer, better ball retention, more presence than what was available for cup final. We gave the ball away very easily throughout the game.Obviously still need pace up front to get the best of Cesc.

Probably wouldn't have scored that free kick for starters
Seriously though, very good player but not what we need. Striker, DM, RB and centre back all needed before Cesc. Oh and a back up keeper

He is better than what we have in Midfield, so someone would have to be sold to make way imo. He is also a 20 goal a season player so getting that extra striker may not be such a pressing issue if we sign him. It would also allow wenger to rotate Pod and Giroud in the lone striker role.
SPUDMASHER wrote:How could you not want a player of that quality back in the team?
I think the link up between him, Ozil and Rambo would be almost telepathic.
Definitely not the captaincy though. I actually think that belongs with Mertersacker next season.
Agree 1,000% - He REALLY cares and gives his all - I liked the way he gave our new prima donna (ozil) a right bollicking for not acknowledging the fans....
BFG for me!
As for Cesc ... .......Not sure ..there's a part of me would love to see him come back - especially as he would come back with a lot of footie knowledge that just might rub off on the other players (younger and old)...BUt
IF he is going to come back it needs to be now - I don't want him wearing the Arsenal Red & White when he's past it and cannot conrtibute week in, week out - the last thing we need is another cripple.
A huge big yes from me! People moan about us having a lack of quality in the squad, but will then shirk at the possibility of having a genuine world class player in our fold. The same people who moan about the amount of injuries we usually sustain in a season, which usually causes a collapse in form.
Yes there are other areas of the squad that need addressing, but passing up the opportunity to re-sign an extremely talented midfielder would be insane. Ramsey was out for months on end, Wilshere isn't always living up to his potential and gets injured a lot, so why wouldn't we want Cesc back?
The alternative is that we don't bother signing him back, he goes to Man U and then the people that were saying we didn't need him moan about allowing him go to a rival.
Start Cesc wide. As game progresses, Oz11 will go wide and Cesc will play CAM, similarly to what has happened last season with Oz11 and Santi. Question is: Would this be fair to Santi who has given a lot?
We could still get a world class striker, a decent cdm, a right back and a winger for less than 100 million including Cesc's priice tag.
I do have a concern with Fabregas that his best years are possibly behind him, like a lot of players that start playing at the top level at a very young age he could be done by the time he's 30. In his last year with us he was plagued with hamstring and muscle injuries and although pace has never been a big part of his game he is alarmingly slow.
Bit torn on this too. Didn't like the way he left but could understand he wanted to go to his boyhood club. Wasn't as bad as the way Cuntley left over money or VanJudasCunt left after we had stood by him through his injury ravaged years and made him a millionaire.
For purely football reasons I'd take Cesc back as he is still a top player. He hasn't been blinding in Spain but tbh I don't think Spanish league footy suits him like the PL did.
How much it would cost is the issue for me. We have higher priorities tbh, we need to get in a top top striker, a new DM and probably a RB (and maybe a CH and keeper too) so if the Whores are looking £30million then it's too much and I'd say no, even though I'd puke if I saw him pull on a manure jersey.
The Fat Danish Drunk is going......and up to eee-aye, eee-aye, eee-aye-oh country. Welcome to Burnley ! At least he can enjoy some proper pie indulgence !

The day that useless piece of lard fucks off we should celebrate!
This is a hard case and I really can't make my mind on this. I think that in Barca the club has kind of trying to force him into the squad even if there's no exact role to him. There are already world class midfielders to nearly every position as someone here pointed out, but of course the club has tried to get him involved in the first team because own kid returning home and all the media hassle and all that.
I think I'd still take him back for us and play him alongside Flamini in the bottom of the midfield. We should get rid of Arteta and play Cesc in his position with defensive and holding midfielder.
On a purely football basis, if he came back we could fund the move by offloading "Jackie powder puff" especially if he has one good game at the world cup, then the English media will be creaming themselves, thus pushing up his market value.
