As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Just like Redknapp was the best manager around and also Parker was top drawer pre-March 2012. Suddenly Redknapp was tactically limited and tight-fisted and AVB would usher in a new era of dominance, and Sandro is the best DM they've ever had.
Face it, they could be on the verge of relegation and they would still be talking up their players and prospects wildly. Their coping mechanism is to use a scapegoat - like last year their fans constantly slagged off Dempsey even though he bagged a number of important goals despite being rotated, or Redknapp's lack of tactical nous which wasn't mentioned for 3 and a half years prior to their 2012 collapse.
Fuck it, I'm going to cap off a pleasing weekend by going to browse gloryglory to see how they're rationalising this defeat in line with how highly they rate their bang average team.
**EDIT** Just had a look and predictably gloryglory is filled with AVB Out chat. Now I agree it doesn't look like he's spent too wisely but literally 6 weeks ago he was still universally popular with their fans who banged on about the change it made from Redknapp. Now the only thing they can come up with to explain only scoring 9 goals in 12 PL games is that AVB must be personally holding them back.
I think it is safe to say the AVB myth has well and truly been busted now. Imagine if they hadn't got those earlier season penalties! I'm not sure if it's a case of the worst value for money recruiting, the worst coaching or combo of both combined with the worst club but damn it's a pleasure to witness!

I don't watch Sp*rs that often, so I don't know how they're playing, but 9 goals in 12 games must be a tactical fuck up, surely? - any half decent club should be doing better than that, let alone one with the players Sp*rs have
It must surely be the system they're playing - whether it's either too negative or maybe it doesn't suit the players? (is Saldado suited to being a lone striker?) .. either way, it's hard to believe the manager is getting the best out of them
But like I said, I've not been watching them so I'm making a shed load of assumptions
And quite frankly, I don't care why they're struggling to score goals... I'm just glad they are!!

I don't watch much of them either but posted on the other thread - Shearer did some very basic analysis tonight but actually probably explained a lot of their struggles. We all know how frustrating 4-5-1 is with a striker who's not offering much but when he then starts dropping really deep and shying away from the box and both wingers keep drifting into very central positions they are extremely cramped and have nobody in threatening positions.
Of course add to this that Holtby, Erikson, Sigurdsson etc are all piss-poor comparisons to genuinely creative midfielders like Cazorla, Ozil, Mata, Hazard, Silva, even Nasri and their lack of class player who will grab them goals from nowhere and it starts painting a better picture.

Mind, even saying that 9 goals in 12 games
And 3 of the 9 have been penalties, they're lucky to have scraped those 3 1-0 wins - should be down around 13 or 14 points to be fair.
Why do I get the feeling this might just come back to bite us in the arse... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... am-2847011
Sometimes I wish he would just shut the fuck up and concentrate on his keeping!
I will admit though, that it did bring a little cheeky grin to my face.
That's pretty mild for Szczesny.
I'm not sure how someone actually made that into story though, he didn't say much.
It's all the Mind the Gap stuff that's winding me up. I enjoying laughing at the scum but after the last few years it feels like people are tempting fate.
I can't see them catching us up (especially with their lack of goals) but it's still early days.
I will not let myself feel optimistic yet, not after 07/08
two things that came to my mind during spurs' game:
1- it's hard to imagine someone spending 100M on a team and still being so fucking awful congrats avb
2- that aguero fella is quite handy for an argentinian
The sad thing for them (and the hilarious thing for us) is that whilst the past few years have been barren for us, they view them as some sort of glory period because they've actually picked a couple of top 4 finishes
The sad thing that they are finding out is that 6 players totalling 100m does not equal 1 game changing player worth the same price. In some ways they are experiencing what we have ever since moving i.e. selling your best player and replacing him with some cheaper alternatives doesn't work. The monkey got them out of tight corners time and time again last year and none of Soldado, Eriksen, Lamela, Paulinho etc can do what he did.....i.e. pick the thing up 50 yards from goal, beat 3 players and stick it in the top corner. Even last season the few sensible Spuds I knew were saying that they desperately needed a striker and couldn't keep relying on the monkey. Well if Soldado is it, then they are truly fucked.
ManUre and Liverpool coming up for them - oh dear, oh dear. What a shame

I geuninely think Soldado is a top player, AVB just persists on playing a system that doesn't suit him at all. He's a Eduardo-style striker but did you see how deep he was playing yesterday just to pick up the ball?!
