The Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Edit. I'm defiantly not a AKB just a spade is a spade.
I think you are confusing love of Arsenal with love of Wenger - and therein lies the problem with so many Arsenal fans these days. SWL is not slagging off the Club, he is being critical of the manager. The two are very different things.
Maybe so and while he is not slagging off the club, more important people with a bigger voice will as a result of this, they will not slag Wenger off, they will slag off the club and its supporters, that will grate on everyone regardless of what you think of Wenger, as someone pointed out, its not Arsene FC, its Arsenal FC, it works both ways.

It's pretty much like Turkeys voting for Christmas.

Anyway, do what you got to do, I just think there is a time and place for it and Chelsea along with WHL or Old Trafford are defiantly not those places IMO, Norwich yes, Fulham yes, City yes...

Anyway I'm off.

Turkeys voting for Christmas?? Now that's red action singing one Arsene Wenger. Who gives a fuck about media reaction? Go read a book instead like I do, ignore the whole circus.

Chelsea are not our pals, they will be laughing hard at our demise, you will be going there and slating your own club in their ground that they and the media will love if, we will probably lose in which they will have even more amo to laugh.
I just dont get this at all. You realise we're shit and a laughing stock yet you're against taking measures that will see us given the opportunity to turn things around?

Im guessing you'd like to prop up the wenger regime because a few of your chelsea mates might laugh at you if we turn against him? Its not going to be pretty but man up and do whats best for your club.

Heck, if you ask nicely people may even stop laughing at you, precious flower

People are free to make their own choices as far as I'm concerned. If someone wants the mug gone, then so be it. The club need to know that people are pissed off and have had enough. Getting a banner like this on display makes it obvious to the club and the media that not all fans are behind Wenger and a lot of people want him gone.Knowing our club though, they'd claim that the words actually say: "Arsene thanks the memories, sign a contract for another 15 years and keep saving money. Here's to another price increase and shame on all you doubters."

What do you guys reckon will happen if Wenger sees it? Would he throw a hissy fit and announce his resignation there and then? :barscarf:

So... what are you trying to say Perry?? I know that it needs to be displayed at a low point (lower than even now).... but please explain??? :? Once it get's unfurled, we all need to stay together around it, because the one who does the business will get total stick... it needs planning!!!

I think you're over estimating what those fans think of Arsenal these days. We are no more a rival for the Manks or Chavs than we consider Fulham are to us.

Fair play, SWL. Even if you don't agree with the sentiment, surely you've got to give it to the guy for taking some action rather than just posting on here and moaning about it like most (including myself). It'll be very interesting to see the reaction to it once it's gone up at The Grove.

As a little side note - I get what Gunnersaurus is saying and I agree with it somewhat. But what the fuck is it with some people on this forum (and in the real world too) who cannot get a point across without turning a reasonable enough point into some kind of personal attack? I find myself facepalming a lot when I read this forum these days.

That's a very valid point, and one I agree with, even if I myself am guilty at times of having a go at people.

What I would say is that I think most people, myself included, do not act in real life as they do on this forum. This place functions for many as a 'release', somewhere to blow off steam, and thus the atmosphere is more confrontational and aggressive than you would expect -- I certainly can't imagine some posters functioning in the real world if they act as if they post
