So anyone in the yes camp changed their minds yet?
I have to say we do carry him at times but at the moment i'd definitely say he's worth it

We can afford to carry him if the rest of the team's work rate makes up for it - if we have 2/3 not pulling their weight it leaves us too exposed.GoonerMuzz wrote:So anyone in the yes camp changed their minds yet?

In my opinion Ramsey, Walcott do not make enough effort in their defensive duties.
If we had 2 x ALEXIS we would be sorted and if we had a combination of Girouds ariel threat and hold up play combined with Theo' s pace he would get 30 assist per season.

Yep - after nearly two and a half years he has finally began showing the extent of his ability on a consistent level for the first time since his first few months.GoonerMuzz wrote:So anyone in the yes camp changed their minds yet?

For me carrying him defensively isn't a huge issue because if he is playing as a 10 (where he should be) in a 4-5-1 there's not a huge amount of defensive expectancy on him and rightly so.
The issue is if he goes completely missing for large periods during big games then it is very difficult for us to create anything.
Re: Mesut Ozil - should we sell?
His second half display was fantastic ,I remember someone saying
Watch the game and youll miss Ozil but watch Ozil and you will see the whole game
well he made sure that everyone there today saw the second half of that game
outstanding,

Re: Mesut Ozil - should we sell?
NB i have to agree 2 1/2 years is a bit long to wait but i think part of it is that others in the team have started playing better not just him and that up until the recent injuries there was less chopping and changing of peoples positions.northbank123 wrote:Yep - after nearly two and a half years he has finally began showing the extent of his ability on a consistent level for the first time since his first few months.GoonerMuzz wrote:So anyone in the yes camp changed their minds yet?

Other factors such as having the freedom a half decent CDM and CM behind him and also getting bedded in more with Alexis, Wally improving in front of him have all factored in to him being able to play more the way he enjoys.
I'd still like him to prove himself in the big games consistently but i am pleased he is playing better and showing what he is capable of as i think it gives the whole team a boost.

I think he is a talented lad and deserves some leeway after having a decent start to the season. However this band of Arsenal fan that worships everything he does get on my nerves. Would take a nasty grafter like paul davis over him any day

we would have a lot less goals if that were the case.Henry Norris 1913 wrote:I think he is a talented lad and deserves some leeway after having a decent start to the season. He is showing his worth this season and to be fair I think this thread should be locked because of it.

Are you for real mate PAUL DAVIS??? by the way when was he so nasty (barring the forearm smash which i think he got 8 week ban for)
By the way the other fella deserved it...
He was a lightweight player in midfield, done a decent job mind......think he would be first to admit that he is nowhere near Mesut Ozils level, comparing the 2 is strange to say the least....
Re: Mesut Ozil - should we sell?
Paul Davis was a elegant left-footed midfielder.
I think never red carded [except in retrospect for Glen's jaw] and hardly booked.

Firstly don't want to get in the position of dis-repecting Paul Davis, a player i liked in his time at the Arsenal, was a real club player
Yeah Elegant player, great left foot, saw him make his debut at the lane in a 2-1 win
but never nasty that would be backed up by the fact of very little bookings
But comparison to Ozil, is strange, Ozil being part of a very good German world cup winning team, don't remember Paul Davis representing England, could be wrong though on that one
Better comparison would be Liam Brady and Ozil, and for that would put Brady in front so far........

Paul Davis got no England caps and Geoff Thomas got 9 – I leave you with that awful fact.Redarmy wrote:Blade wrote:Paul Davis was a elegant left-footed midfielder.
