do you really think that Gazidis will bother with this though?Nos89 wrote:I know it is a long shot but Shearer raised a good point on MOTD 2 last night about Guardiola's contract with Man city having a get out clause in it if they finish outside a champions league place and in the Europa league? Gazides needs to be checking this out and talking to both Guardiola's agent on poaching him, and wenger on retiring if Guardiola becomes available...we are currently in a stronger position to maintain a top 3 finish.

Re: Guardiola- Up for grabs now!!!
I can't see him leaving Man City if they finish outside and as it has been pointed out, we won't be on the case because Wenger will still be here with his £2 million striker from Ligue Deux trying to experiment until injuries force his hand to actually having to play players an accidently finding balance.Nos89 wrote:I know it is a long shot but Shearer raised a good point on MOTD 2 last night about Guardiola's contract with Man city having a get out clause in it if they finish outside a champions league place and in the Europa league? In some ways it might even make the job more attractive to him. Will still be able to make some huge signings with his name and City's money, they wouldn't get near winning the CL within 12 months anyway, will give them a better chance of domestic (and European) success and will reduce expectations.
Really looking at where the clubs are now you would say City should probably with it next season given their experience, squad and resources, but if Guardiola did take them from 5th to 1st in his first year there he would be hailed as a miracle worker.

His main motivation to go to City is his former team from Barca. City employed former Barca executives Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain some years ago and Pep has a chance to work with full team from his Barca years again.

The thing that intrigues me is the domino effects we would see IF pep decided that he wasn't willing to manage a Europa league side. Would citeeh then turn to moaninho ? Would manure suddenly feel the pressure to sack lvg and get moaninho before citeeh hijack him ? Would the chavs start to cool their interest in conte and make serious moves to entice pep ?
All these are possibilities without factoring our situation into the mix, and it would make great viewing to see it all play out

Pep is tied in to Man City regardless of where they finish this season so there is 0% chance of him still coming to us.
I'm afraid this is simply a case of desperate people grasping at straws.

Can't say I've followed this story with any interest given that we could be the last club on earth and the chances of Guardiola being our manager next season would be nil as long as Wenger is breathing.SPUDMASHER wrote:Pep is tied in to Man City regardless of where they finish this season so there is 0% chance of him still coming to us.

IF he did negotiate the option into his contract of terminating if they didn't finish top 4, my instinct is why would he have done that unless he intended to use it?
No thoughts either way on the accuracy of the reports (which again I stress I haven't bothered to read) save for that it's not unusual for clubs to contain termination provisions based on league finishes (e.g. Moyes) and noting that Guardiola had about as much leverage as any manager joining a new club could.
