After the Monaco debacle of a couple of years ago, I'm taking nothing for granted, regardless of who we draw. I would be happy enough with a bit of progress, even to make it to a semi-final.
Or Milan in 2013

Well done, mate. That didn’t make you seem like an arsehole at all.

Agreed. But wouldn't it be refreshing to get rimmed by someone new this time round?
Alicia Vikander would be nice

Ozil and Sanchez play and think on a different level to everyone else on that team. The weight of Ozil's passes are a joy to behold, and he sees things that other players can't even imagine. Sanchez is class. He is a beast. And that free kick - if it had been a Spuddy (one inch  ) lower it would have been a goal of the season contender. Did you see the MOVEMENT on that ball??!! 8) Two top class players. At times last night they were just ignoring Ramsey and looking for each other. Which is good, because Ramsey is shit.

You might want to fast forward this bit. It will be a Ramsey rant.

He is a fucking liability. Kills the momentum of every attack with too many touches, pisses away possession with backheels and flicks, and always thinks about what showboat skill he can try to demonstrate rather than what will help the team. I mean ffs why when running with the ball, and no oppo player is anywhere near you, would you do a step over? :rubchin: Oh, right. It's because you are a deluded Messi-Lite showboating cúnt, that's why. And then when he finally gets near an oppo player, instead of trying something like a step over or dropping the shoulder to beat the player or God forbid pass it, he fucking shoots. From 35 yards. With 2 oppo players 5 yards in front of him. And hits one on the knee. At one point under no pressure whatsoever he nearly cost us when a simple pass across the middle wasn't enough for him. He hit across the ball with his outstep, trying to put swerve on it, but scuffed it straight to an oppo player. It says where his mind is. Always thinking about showboating, always thinking about being overly (and unnecessarily) technical. I'm so fucking sick of him now. Ramsey you utter fucking cúnt. :x  :censored:

Perez did his job but he looks a bit pub player to me tbh. We'll see. Or not, with Wenger in charge.

Gibbs played better than he has done for 5 years but to claim 3 "assists" is horseshit. One was a scuffed pass that the oppo defender should have cleared and one a HUGE deflection...

Xhaka has to start. Adds strength and skill in the middle.

Ospina made one fantastic save and did well overall.

Have to admit I'm surprised, but Gabriel has done ok at right back. Defended well and done ok going forward.

It's a good result and a great performance, but what's the bets we still get a top side and out in the next round? :|

Ramsey is clear proof that Wenger does zero video analysis of his sides performances. Ramsey offers zero to the team, he is one of the most pointless players I have ever seen play for the club, but with Wenger here, he is generally assured of a start. In his post match interview on Saturday, Wenger said that Ramsey was still recovering from his broken toe, and that's why he didn't start v West Ham. You can be sure that when fully fit, he will be back in the team. Id also expect Wenger to go against all logic, and find a reason to bench Xhaka again.

well I guess Wenger will get a lot of praise for last night.
I think though we got very lucky with PSG failing to win.

However although we finished top of the group will it really make much difference in the last 16?
Probably the most telling point of the group stages is that we failed to beat PSG on either occasion. It is still more likely than not that we will fail to progress beyond the last 16.

I also still dont believe that Ozil and Sanchez should have started - we have 3 tough PL games coming up now in the next 10 days.
Get ready for the leetle bit jaded excuse coming out from at least one of those games. I would rather have 9 points from the 3 PL games than the heroics of last night....Anyway time will tell

Anyway good win last night, I can't be unhappy that we won :barscarf:

A bit like their performance against ludicrous in the champs league game, before they both went missing against the scum, manure and psg  I say that as a fan of both players (and especially ozil), but both are developing a nasty habit of disappearing in big games (maybe they were disappearing last season too and I just didn't notice as much  ).

They do both have a habit of disappearing in some games. There is no denying that. I have two possible theories on that;

1. They both try the same stuff in every game - but the other 8 outfield players around them cannot adapt to their vision against the better teams and Sanchez and Ozil get frustrated and drop their heads. Possible.

2. They can't perform at that level every single game. Few players can. We have been unlucky that it coincided with what we look on subjectively as big games (especially manure and scum). Also possible.

Either way, they are our two best players by a country mile and we should look to build the team around them and their abilities. 8)

Also Perez is fucking useless!
Perez still useless?
As soon as I posted it I thought that I should have a bet on him as first scorer or Hat-Trick getter.
Fair play to him,but I still don't think that he is the standard our club requires up top.

The answer is yes - he's still useless. I'd have more impressed if he'd shown up against Van Dijk - a proper centre half - rather than any of those clowns pretending to be defenders for Basle last night. Fair play, you can't do much more than score a hat-trick against whoever is put out in front of you but lets not afford him hero status on the back of last night

Loved the pass from Ozil... and easy tap in, also obvious plaudits to Sanchez but have to mention Gabriel who has done really well at RB
Holding looked assured, at fault with their goal but other than that good performance

Nice trip to Porto in Feb/March would be good :D :D

Or maybe they disappear because the whole team around them disappears as well. They can't run the show just two of them when playing against better teams.

Quality show yesterday I have to say. But I have to say also that I'm beginning to fucking lose my mind because of Ramsey.

Finally we've topped the group, good team selection from Wenger, unbeaten in all 6 matches... and over here on www.MiserableC_nts.com/Forum they're still moaning
