As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
The latest Laughable news this morning is that seven countries(England included) were told not to wear a one world armband for fear of being yellow carded before the game even starts. Imagine trying to do a protest at a tournament you decided to be involved in, no self awareness from these people at all. It was also revealed yesterday that England jerseys are made in Thai factories were workers are paid 1 pound an hour but again let's hear about human rights.
That doesn't make the way the Qatari's carry on in 2022 right though does it?
The footballing authorities don't decide who/where the shirts are manufactured. The way the rag trade works globally, most garments are made in sweatshops in places like Thailand and Bangladesh. So there is an argument to boycott just about every high street clothing retailer with those principles.
Yesterday in the first game, an Ecuadorian fan was videod rubbing his fingers together at the Qatari's after they scored. It was nothing more than a bit of banter, but all over social media the middle eastern fans were throwing their toys out the pram. Compared with some of the shennanigans that goes on in British football grounds this was nothing. Yet he could quite easily have been arrested.
This is probably the worst choice of host for a WC, and the worst time of year to play it. FIFA needs disbanding.
the Welsh manager was being interviewed on the BBC yesterday and when Jugs asked the customary question about the morality of holding the WC in Qatar (while staying in a 5 star hotel for a month with all his mates and coining massively off the back of it....all on the taxpayers buck - the two faced caaaaaaaaaaant) the Welsh manager said how they wanted to make a statement with the one love armband and how all the players and management were passionate about making this symbolic gesture.....
Then 24 hours later it turns out nobody is wearing it

At no point did I justify anything the Qataris have done, the WC should not be near the country but am merely pointing out the hypocrisy that exists among so many of the dissenting voices. When you decide to play at this tournament, go out there as a reporter or go there as a supporter then you aren't in a position to be lecturing anyone on morales. Also, if you care about human rights you don't allow your jersey to be made in a sweatshop, there is ridiculous levels of hypocrisy all over this tournament.

Get all yer facts right Rodders and less of the Racism please.
btw: I agree - They ALL bottled it.... Had they All stuck by their guns... Fifa would have backed down...with the world watching, unless of course The Qatari Royal Family Offered to put even more Wedge in their brown envelopes..

Some people don't have that choice remember. The economy is fucked.
The commentators on Talksport, during the Dutch game, kept going on about how wonderful the stadiums are. For some reason they made no mention about the number of migrants who died building them....
