Yes he is built like an ox but he also appears to move like an ox and I would have serious concerns about his ability to adapt to the pace of the premiership.

I did hear a rumour that barca want hleb and it would be great if we could get eto with hleb as part of that deal instead. Have to say xavi is the only midfielder (apart from messi of course) that I rate at barca.

Yesterday there was speculation that wenger was after somebody that has played in england but no longer plays there - could it be eideir gudjohnson ? Just a thought 8)

That would be a good signing. I've always rated him. He's an excellent finisher and the Chavs always looked more menacing when he was there. Couldn't believe it when they sold him.

Can't remember how old Gudjonsen is but like you say, top skill, top quality and as long as he's not down the bookies every day, I'd have him. Got to say Augie that I think Ya Ya would be a great signing. OK not the quickest but when you're a water carrier you've got to be strong, intelligent and not necessarily Ben Johnson and in fact in the games against ManUre he didn't come acoss as that pedestrian. So how about Hleb, Eboue and another to Barca in return for Eider, Samuel and Ya Ya. I think that'd even make Augie positive for 7 minutes!!!!

Have never thought much of Gudjohnsen but he's 29, so zip chances of him joining us. Hope so anyway.

Wenger keeps saying that Defense is an area he wants to strengthen. Full backs have been immense this season, Kolo Toure standards have dropped but still a rock. Gallas for me has been a bit of a liability. His positional sense is suspect and I think his best performances at Chelsea were when he played full back for them. Who is there to bring in though?

Hasn't he played about 4 games all season? Decent player, so perhaps worth a gamble, but signing a quality CB is probably our priority (perhaps jointly with a winger), so not sure we should be gambling on a player so badly crocked this year.

I still say one of Lucio and Cuellar would do the trick.

Metzelder has been injury-prone this season and Real Madrid got him for free this summer, so paying any amount of money for him would be a let-down :?

Brazilian striker hints at Gunners switch

ARSENAL target Amauri has hinted he will leave Palermo at the end of season in the hope of playing Champions League football.

The Brazilian striker has caught the eye of Arsene Wenger after scoring 15 league goals this year, although AC Milan and Juventus are also known to be keen admirers.

But Amauri said he will put any decision on hold until the current season finishes.

"The Champions League factor is fundamental in my choice," the 27-year-old told Mediaset.

"I reaffirm that everything will be sorted out after the match with Siena. I'll discuss things with my agent and we will see what concrete options there really are."

Silva and Villa ready to move

Let the bidding wars immense 8)

By the way does anyone know what Valencia will do with their current stadium, Mestalla?
