This thread is embarrassing tbh. Is it now fashionable to be ahead of the curve and start bashing a manager years before he deserves it?
Really? So you would give him years to prove his worthlessness!
He can’t do the basics nutflush!
He repeats the same mistakes over and over!
We’d beaten spurs and drawn at home to the mousers at this stage last season ! thise 2 results this season are being held up as a measure of progress!
Its fucking hard to swallow that we might have not appointed the right man, especially after the euphoria of what was if we’re honest, the most fortuitous unbeaten run ever! A run in which we could easily have lost half or more of those games, poor finishing bye and large from lesser opposition the real defining contributor.
Swallow it we must and sooner rather than later

6 months in and you want a new manager? Utterly ridiculous and so fickle it's not true.

Tottenham this season has been much stronger than last, to the extent the pundits were talking about them as title contenders. We took Tottenham apart in the second half this season with football we haven't seen for years. There's so many reasons why things are imploding that you can't hold Emery accountable for just yet. Let him get his own players in, and if then they are still making the same mistakes then yes we have to question him. Remember we also gave Liverpool a decent game at home.

He deserves 3 seasons to sort the mess Wenger left out, if we are going to throw our toys out the pram after 6 months then we might as well just give up.

As things stand we are within touching distance of 4th place and we play Chelsea in a few weeks. Not only are they there for the beating but out of all the sides above us have the weakest front line (even with Hazard). Even if we don't finish in the top 4, this season was always going to be transitional. Give it time ffs and stop being so impatient. I don't want us to go through a phase where we are like Tottenham changing managers all the time, just because over a short period of time things aren't going right.

emery and Sven have a he'll of a job on their hands so I'll give them time to sort out this mess.

that said, when Emery arrived I, as a minimum, thought he'd improve our defensive record by coaching and giving the team a better shape when out of possession.
- the huge negative so far is that we're shipping in goals and chances at an alarming rate.... and could even end up conceding a record number I'm a premier league season  for me, that's totally unacceptable and evidence his coaching is ineffective which is a worry.

also, I expected emery to make a decision on whether to build a midfield around Ramsey OR Ozil and go with it. wenger always tried to shoehorn both into the side and he never really worked.
- alarmingly, emery seems to isolated both Ramsey and Ozil and instead favoured iwobi  could be wrong, but that "man management" could end up with both players having their least productive season at Arsenal and both leaving the club in January or the summer.

all in all, its a fuck up. I'll support him and I'll use the fortunate unbeaten run and win over spurs as evidence of progress but, to be honest , I think the decline is continuing.

hope we give emery a fighting chance and get some much needed business done this January!
Agreed, has the mess in defence he inherited been exacerbated by his own indecision in trying to sort out the midfield too. As a self proclaimed exponent of winning 4-3 rather than 1-0 has he been looking too much at our midfield issues when the defence and the team's overall defending was obviously the immediate problem. So far he doesn't seem to be having too much success in sorting out either but he does deserve time to build his own team. If Dick had used his brain and managed to limit the victims defeat to a 2 goal deficit then he would have been free to continue on his way this season but this wenker-esque hiding only serves to ask the question.

Yay, another WUM thread....lets bring back Wenger, or perhaps dream about having a non-existent manager who can go a whole season unbeaten with the worst owner in the world in charge, not spend more than £20m on a player, transform a Dads Army Wenger defence into a watertight unit within 4 months, never make a single bad selection and go on to win the CL in his second season

Let me know where the option in the poll is for that fella to take over and I'll come back and change my mind

Fucking ridiculous

Embarrassing.

Yesterday was completely unacceptable but I’d like to know where else anybody reckons he could have spend his 70m which would have made us drastically better.

Emery faces the toughest task as Arsenal manager since GG was appointed over 30 years ago. The people on here expecting instant success are victims of the modern day PL culture

Some of the finest managers in the world have flopped here in their first few seasons, whilst others like Mourinho have proved that when the playing field is levelled it isn't quite so easy after all.

I truly believe that if Wenger had still been here we'd be a dozen points or more worse off and languishing in mid-table.

Breeding a winning culture after years of failure has haunted many a club. Man United were like Spurs in the 80s - decades without a title, a laughing stock amongst other fans and had even been relegated the decade before. It took Ferguson years, and just about surviving with the 1990 FA Cup and subsequent ECWC before a winning culture was instilled. Even then they blew the 1992 title race to Leeds despite being the best team in the league that season

Poch for all his so called glories hasn't even done with GG or Ramos did for them - lets see if they can win something. A losers culture runs through the club. Its what ensured they lost their latest FA Cup semi final, and as soon as they were mentioned as title contenders and went above City, they chucked it in 1-3 at home to Wolves

Klopp still hasn't won a trophy at Liverpool yet. Years of a losing culture will see them wobble at some point this season - they will lose games

City with unlimited wealth haven't yet won the CL and I think their arses will blow again in that competition - years of a losing mentality in Europe

My point is that Emery has inherited a set of players and a board with a mindset that coming 4th and winning the odd FA Cup is success. Whether you like it or not that is what the past 14 years of being an Arsenal fan has been all about. A gallant finish in the league, blow up whenever you're mentioned as title contenders, get bumholed in big games away from home. That's his cards. The finest managers ever to work in this country inherited their sets of cards as listed above, and it took them time to turn it round. Some of them have still never won a trophy despite throwing hundreds of millions at it

I'd like to know which manager is out there to do better than Emery. In my mind its a modern day miracle that we could even go back into the top 4 in January when we play Chelsea at home. If he finishes top 4 it will be on a par with when Moyes did it with Everton in 2005. This is the worst Arsenal defence I can recall since the early 80s, and none of Pep, Klopp, Maureen, Poch or any other modern day wonder could sort that out in 4 months - nobody at all

I am surprised that people would be clamouring for the guy to leave already. He has inherited a team of well-paid under-acheivers as well as being hamstrung by the Wenger-Gazidis cluster-f*** of contract negotiation. So the wage bill is a massive one with players who have little to zero resale value. He needs time to turn things around. Any good manager will struggle in those conditions, so it is hardly surprising that Emery is stuggling over the past month. Emery is a good manager, but is struggling partly because we lack competent players in a lot of positions - Wingers, left-back, centre-back, and midfield as well. He has had to overplay Dozi because we just do not have the players to cover in those positions. Ramsey thinks that he is a centre-forward and Ozil is the microcosm of Wenger - dining on past glories.

Emery or any manager would have a lot of work to do. Give the guy time and more than the 6 months or so that he has had.

Just watching the Chavs under their shiny new manager huffing and puffing their way through the first half at Palace. They are a grand total of two points away from Emery who obviously needs the sack after one thrashing :D

Four of the Chavs back five have played every game this season

Keeper cost €80m, Azpilicueta six years in the PL, Rudiger £27m, David Luiz £30m, Marcos Alonso £24m
On the bench - Morata £60m, Kovacic 48 caps for Croatia on loan from Madrid, Zappacosta €28m

Emery's back line yesterday - third choice (or lower) German keeper Leno £22m, Lichsteiner 36 year old freebie, Sokratis 30 years old £17m, Mustafi worst Wenger signing ever, Kolasinac another piece of shit from the Wenger age on a free, Maitland-Niles over exposed kid who isn't even a defender
On the bench - Lacazette and then Saka, Willock, Guendouzi, Elneny, Cech and Koscielny

I wonder how Sarri, Klopp, Pochettino and Pep would do with that lot? No doubt go the whole season unbeaten and have the title in the bag by Christmas

Think the stories of miracle workers being sent down to earth by some big bloke in the sky over Xmas has gone to peoples heads. Any if this miracle manager did exist what makes people think he would come and work for wiggy *word censored*?

Precisely. I've said for years that Kroenke will slowly kill this club and has been the root of our problems more than so Wenger. Those that thought sacking Wenger would be the answer to all our prayers are about to see that right now.

Your mission Mr Emery - spend a tenth of what Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea and City are spending, turn the worst back line in the top half of the league into worldbeaters despite most of them being over 30 and suddenly make lazy c.unts like Ozil and Ramsey into workhorses. Oh, and while you're there can you ensure the only youth set up in the top half never to produce a top class striker in 30 odd years is transformed into a production line of great talent. Turn is into champions overnight please and never lose a big game again

All summer long we forecasted that there would be wenger defenders who would lurk in the shadows just waiting for things to go even a slight bit pete tong, and I swore to myself that I wouldnt react to them when it happened, but now it has arrived I have allowed myself be wound up when I should know better
All morning long I have been listening/reading crap from a victims fan and a manure fan of our a side whatsapp group, as they cunted off AFC and torreira in particular. to the point that I literally want to find where they are and give them one hell of a kicking  I expected no better from them cos there arent supporters of our club and would only have a passing awareness of the job emery took on - us Gooners we should be totally tuned in on how dire our squad/team is, how badly coached our players have been, and shamefully how spineless our players have been for years now. Bizarrely it seems that some expect emery to have fixed all our issues already  It seems to have escaped their notice that our best players this season have either been the newer signings or the ones that were not there long enough under the french cock to be destroyed. We now have a situation where we had 2 players on the bench yesterday who havent appeared in the league at all for the club, and 2 players who have made one appearance each this season - how is a manager meant to rotate or drop players ??

Been saying this myself to anyone who will bother to listen. If you spoke to most sensible Gooners about who have been our top performing players this season you would probably hear Torreira, Leno (up until Saints away at least), Sokratis, Aubameyang and possibly Lacazette.....all of whom fit into one of the two categories you've pointed out. Its hardly a surprise to me that the ones he doesn't fancy - Cech, Ramsey, Ozil etc - are ones who played under the cock for years on end. He's giving Iwobi and Bellerin a chance because they are young enough to improve and in fairness at times this season have performed better than they did at any point in the past couple of years under cock features

Lichtsteiner is the one signing he's made that has gone tits up - A 36 year old on a free transfer in a position where we are desperately short on numbers, so I can forgive that.

When Wenger joined he inherited one of the top five keepers in world football, a back four that was the finest in the land, one of the best goalscorers in the country in Wrighty and one of the world's finest talents in Bergkamp.....so the base was solid and he could build from there bringing in experienced talent like Overmars and taking a chance on the odd kid like Anelka and Upson

Compare that to poor old Dick, He inherited a calamitous geriatric Chavski turd in goal, one of the worst, aging defences in the club's history and one world class player who has been allowed to play so ineptly and freely that at 30 years old I doubt he'll ever recover from it. The desperation buy of Aubameyang is probably the one he inherited that he could even begin to build a team round and he's already the league's top scorer
