Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
We need two strikers remember and hes a decent wide player, dont think hed be main target, Arteta has already said he wants a tall fast striker to lead the line . Tielemans I'd be very happy with .
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Gabriel Jesus
Congratulations on finding a striker even more lightweight than Nketiah
Fuck me - are we really going to play a poor man's copycat Man City and have no strikers barring a couple of flaky c.unts

Well we have previous.... Wenger and his Barca-Lite with Tippy Tappy. Now we are doing a citeh-Lite with no strikers....

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Gabriel Jesus is not required. Just because he is Brazilian and plays for Man City doesn't make him good. 3 goals in 23 games this year. A literal direct replacement for Lacazette. And because he played for Man City he would come here assuming he is one of our top players but in reality he is less a footballer than Saka, ESR, Martinelli and Odegaard.
I believe we need two strikers, & I would like one to be Calvert Lewin. His pace, energy, good height at 187 cm, proven in the English league. A safe pair of hands we should expect to score between 15-20 league goals a season. He has been average this year, in a year blighted in injuries and a very poor Everton side. But the two seasons before that 29 goals in 69 games, a .42 games to goals ratio. If we signed him I reckon he could score more than .5 goals a game. Plus I think his link up play will work.
And if we ened up with a top tier striker or Martinelli settles in as the number 9 and starts scoring for fun. DCL wouldnt throw a tantrum and being benched.
I would prefer DCL 10 times over Gabriel Jesus. By the way, I checked out a City website bluemoon, and these pricks are talking about a swap deal, Gabriel Jesus for one of Saka, Martinelli, ESR. This is as delusional than the Liverpool fans who wanted to use Chamberlain was a makeweight for Saka/Martinelli.
Why do fans think they can trade their fringe players for other clubs top tier players? Im not in denial about DCL. If Everton stay up he will cost a fucking fortune 50-60m likely.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I’m hoping this is all complete horse shit, we are going to be linked with 700 strikers this summer after all.
Gabriel Jesus - a striker that doesn’t score goals (in a team that scores a hundred a season)
DCL - an injury prone striker that doesn’t score goals.
We can’t afford to fuck this transfer up and it’s vital we sign a guy that can hit 20+ league goals from season one, be a bully in the opposition penalty box and provide a goal threat aerially and option we simply don’t have at the moment (when was the last time we scored form header from a cross into the box that wasn’t a corner?

Who would you realistically expect to sign? - that’s a genuine question as I don’t watch much football other than Arsenal these daysrodders999 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:08 amI’m hoping this is all complete horse shit, we are going to be linked with 700 strikers this summer after all.

DCL has lots of potential if he can stay fit. Gabriel Jesus is a big upgrade on what we currently have, can play right across the front line and gets assists too. I liked Tammy Abraham last summer and the idea of signing Vlahovic in January but they weren’t wanted by most on here either

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I'm with you rodders. Neither are much of an upgrade on what we have. Jesus is Laca-Lite and DCL in a 6 year PL career has only scored more than 10 PL goals in a season twice.rodders999 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:08 amI’m hoping this is all complete horse shit, we are going to be linked with 700 strikers this summer after all.

I'd take a punt on DCL if it came down to him and Jesus but tbh his injury record would put me off as much as anything. He's not the worst we could get, but certainly not the best.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I didn't really want Abraham, but would 100% take him ahead of Jesus. With Vlahovic most of us could smell a rat from the start - the guy clearly didn't want to play for us, and we wasted a whole window chasing him.g88ner wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:43 amWho would you realistically expect to sign? - that’s a genuine question as I don’t watch much football other than Arsenal these daysrodders999 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:08 amI’m hoping this is all complete horse shit, we are going to be linked with 700 strikers this summer after all.

My eldest lad keeps banging on about Ivan Toney. I haven't really seen enough of him to be honest, but he was a beast against us on the opening day and 12 goals in 28 games in your first PL season at a team like Brentford seems impressive enough (not sure how many penalties though). He scored 30+ in the Championship too, and although the drop in standard is undoubted, it still takes some getting. 26 years old - you'd argue coming in to what should be peak years as a striker.
Rashford was another name that seemed to be popping up constantly until recently - certainly has the pace and power, and maybe needs a change of club. Not 100% convinced, but think his game would be more suited to us than Jesus for sure.
I like Divock Origi and its clear he is surplus to requirements. Good hold up play and seems to notch crucial goals when he does get the nod (and would be instantly loved for scoring against the Scum in the CL final !)
Ollie Watkins was someone who really impressed me last season, especially when they blew us away at our place
Lets face it - every one is a gamble but there's a few there who would probably jump at the chance to play for the Arsenal rather than some mercenary prick like Vlahovic who clear didn't
I don't watch any foreign football so can't comment on overseas options, but what I would say is that there is an enormous snob value placed on overseas talents like Izak, who have no proven track record in this league.

I would rather we kept Nketiah (No! I do NOT want him to stay) than Jesus, they are both Feather-weights and NOT what we need.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 11:07 pmWell we have previous.... Wenger and his Barca-Lite with Tippy Tappy. Now we are doing a citeh-Lite with no strikers....![]()

I always knew that Farteta & co would "raid" man $hitty for their off-casts and so it has begun.... what next that other useless preck grealish???

They farteta & edu may as well bend over on a raised platform outside Maine rd lube them selves up and let Pep and his team mangle them till they have the equivalent of broken cat flaps (copyright DB)
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I’d take Ivan Toney. Not as our long term first choice but we need variety in attack and he’d be a great option to have.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 8:42 am

I like the idea of Rashford but he always seems to play wide left so not sure he’s ever developed as a striker really and we don’t need another left sided forward.
Willian as a false 9?

The story about signing Gabriel Jesus could well have legs though. He seems an Arteta type player to me; not quite a false 9 but a striker with good movement who drops deep and wide who won’t be prolific but will get assists to offset that and, like at Citeh, he’s used to playing in a system with wide forwards.

Toney would be a decent second striker, a plan B who is decent in the air and doesn't get bullied from what I've seen of him, excellent penalty taker too.
As regards a top striker for our main man, I have an idea, it's a bit out there, some might say I'm mad but what about we have some professional scouts that go and watch some strikers and then pick the best one, crazy I know

Jesus - 4 goals and an assist so far today. I've always thought he was class, we should sign him.......

I wonder how much that has just added to his price?

Again I think that it comes down to what role/job we expect our number 9 to fill - if we looking for a hard working target man with pace and who can hold up the ball, then either Toney or Calvert Lewin would work for me, and Toney caused the scum backline all sorts of bother today. If we are looking for a 15-20 league goal striker then I'm not sure whether either of them are that, although neither will have played in a team with as many creative players as we have (saka, smith-rowe, martinelli).
Clearly gabriel jesus is not qualified to fill either role unless we are in the championship and playing against teams as shit as watford every week
