You need to watch 20/20 mate, I tried to get tickets for middlesex vs essex that would normally have one man and his dog watching a 3 day game. It's pretty much sold out.

no he qualifies via the free movement between Ireland and UK, which existed before the eu and will exist after. whether he should being the team though is another matter, as hes been crap for years. and whether he should have stayed playing for Ireland is also another question.

if Scotland leave UK and join EU then it could be interesting as no free movement agreement, yet. however Scottish cricket would benefit due to being able to utilise tenuous connections, ie Scottish heritage and grandparents, (like Ireland do, i.e. tim murtagh). the scots don't do this currently the only 'non scots' they have are via marriage or residency.

what it will hopefully do is stop fairly average eu passport holders playing, like roelly van de merwe who is blocking a young Somerset English spinner whenever he plays. (appreciate there are a few v good eu passport holders, all I can think of is rtd at Essex though)

also its 4 day cricket, not 3 (it used to be 3 years ago) and its usually a healthier crowd of about a couple of thousand for Essex and Middlesex 4 day home games rather than 1 man and his dog.
