Other Matches Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Just don’t watch it - I’m certainly not going to bother.
Hopefully given the kick off times not many others will too - although I see that the BBC are giving it the full hype machine

That's it though isn't it... The BBC, Sky and all other Media Channels & Stations are ramming it down our throats 24/7 ....And whoah betide anyone dare criticise it... Some fella did on 5 Live the other day... His argument was perfectly valid and clearly articulated: How the Women's game is "using the Mens game" to promote and finance their own, even demanding Pat Parity; even though the quality & level of the players, skills etc etc etc were nowhere near even the quality & level of male Youth teams and players...

Within minutes their switchboard had lit up with complaint's and then this dullard woman came on accusing him of being a Misogynist and how he shouldn't even be allowed to voice such opinions on the BBC.... The thing is we (men) cannot say a word criticising Women's Football without being labelled Chauvinistic, Misogynists .... He was simply saying that the women's teams were happy to take and use all the Trappings of Mens' Professional Football, and yet were biting the hand that feeds them...

This bloke just couldn't win,; and of course then the programme got a call from one of the Chelsea Women's team claiming to know everything about football and how she had had to struggle to play games in her school and college etc; which may well be true, but she was unable to see this guys perfectly reasonable opinion... :?

So as much as I don't want to nor will I watch it; not because of any misogynistic opinions, but simply because the Football is Not Good and Not Worth Watching.... But It Will Be Promoted like the second coming (and Not In a Rodders Way Either!).

I'm not against the women's game and I don't mind watching it, but what you say here is true. Their game has come on leaps and bounds, but is absolutely light years from the men's game and their screaming about pay parity etc is nonsense. They do indeed piggy back on the men's game and fail to accept that sponsorship and wages are driven by market forces. TV companies and sponsors aren't going to throw fortunes at a game that doesn't garner enough public interest.

Their pay parity argument makes no sense. They claim to be doing the same job and should therefore get equal pay, as though they work in the fucking civil service or the corporate world. I've normally shut this argument down by asking people if a bloke who no one's heard of is singing in a pub or a small venue in Wembley, should he be paid the same as Beyonce or Taylor Swift who are performing along the road in Wembley Stadium? He's doing the same job after all. Fucking nuts.

But sure look at the online gooner website at the moment, nothing but wall to wall women's football......of course id expect nothing less from the current editor who only waits a maximum of 30 seconds before telling someone hes a footie journo who attends "pressers"

Even the gooners giving it the attention as it results in clicks and clicks are what pays when your a social media whore.

Apologies for not posting a 2000 foot QT :D I just wanted to ask a question.

Is the Utd game tomorrow kick off at 22.00 or is that when coverage starts?

Sorry Midz Dunno :? Does anyone know if it's available on Drogon TV? I wasn't going to renew my Subscription till the Start of the Season, but may have to subscribe earlier to see the games in the US.

Cheers Midz.

Drogon doesn't usually do the Build Up per se, but start the broadcast about 5 minutes before, so you get to see the Line-Ups and sometimes a few comments from the (in studio) pundits.

COME DA FUCK ONNNN! You Gunners! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

It will be on one of the ESPNs, my RPG only lets me see what’s on now and next so I can’t check.
