According to a report today, Arsene Wenger is not in a hurry to sign another defender as backup to Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen, because he is nearly certain that Sol Campbell will re-sign for another year at Arsenal.

Good news if Sol does end up staying with us (holding out for someone to offer a 2 year deal?).....but that seems to be where the good news ends!
By Wengers own admission our defence was not good enough last season and at this point in time it is undeniably even weaker. I don't think its being unrealistic to think that he must surely still be looking at making two more defensive signings before the start of the season (three if Sol goes!).
I can really see this as a season of protest and what a shame that will be if this as seems likely to be Wenger last year. I wonder what the odds are at the moment that he won't even be here come May....?
