Viera scored a beauty, didn't expect that one. Good result.

Re: other matches this weekend
Unlike a few others on here I didnt get my panties in a wad the other night when the manure c.unts were being over physical with our players - I didnt condone it but can understand it because we are traditional rivals and they want to lay down a marker for the new season, plus our rep for being ball-less proceeds us
However since that game, manure have had a game against wrexham (where they played their u-21s) and had one player sent off AND their keeper punctured lung of wrexham striker, and last night they played real madrid and had a few "melee's" one of which was when that same little argie prik tried to do bellingham. It seems obvious to me that they intend being very physical this season right from the off - the difference between the game against us and last nights game against madrid was that instead of whinging and crying like our players did, real madrid players squared up to them and didnt back down, and our players need to get on board with that mentality very fast, because we have known for years that we cannot depend on referee's to protect our players so the players need to do it for themselves.

Have to agree, we need to "Man Da Fuck Up" - Or that reputation for having a soft underbelly; which under Arteta and the teams growing confidencehad begun to fade, will become a trade mark again. Every single player has to be prepared to Get Stuck In and Not Back Down.
Just watched both highlights(English & Spanish) funny how highlights can be so different...

It looked very much like an attack minded game from both sides, but that "Friendly" tag is no longer apropos; although this game wasn't as Obviously Physical as the one against the MancNONCECUNTS, it looked like (when both highlights were put together) there were still a few tasty tackles going in - All Good As Far As I am Concerned.
But (For Me) The Glaring Weak Links in our team are Holding (It was his fuck-up that allowed them to get their 3rd goal), also Vieira; whilst he did score a very good goal, he is just not physically up-to-it (The physicality of the Prem week-in & week-out).
Also, Saka missed a Penalty. We all know he IS World Class, but I think Jorginho should take them - if he's on the pitch, but Arteta will no doubt stick with Saka.
It looked like Trossard, Partey and Jesus had good games
As did Havertz (which is a relief)
it was also heart warming to see Both Tiernet and ESR getting game time and both in the mix of things playing well.
Still think we need a Striker Proper, maybe if we could buy that Lewandowski

So far this pre-season we have played 4 games and our starting left backs in those games were kiwior, kiwior, tomyasu and timber - el basque can bu!!shit all he wants in the media about rating Tierney and wanting to keep him, but actions speak louder than words for me, and his actions are designed to push Tierney out the door imo

Re: other matches this weekend
You could well be right Augie, I hope that isn't the case. What was needed after last season; besides getting rid of the Deadwood ASAP, is that we need a much Deeper Squad, but with the option / facility to be able to Swap / Substitute "Like for Like" and so there will be a number of players who may not be First Choice But will get regular game time....Maybe he see's Tierney as one of those, OR perhaps it is because Tierney (Whom I rate very highly for a number of reasons) doesn't Suit the system plan A in Arteta's eyes as well as Timber or Tomiyasu.I really REALLY hope Tierney does stay, but if he decided to leave he would go with my Blessings; as long as he didn't go to manure or the Scum. (Thing is IF he does leave and go to another team it is most likely to be in the Prem - Especially a this Value / Selling Price will have increased since we bought him from the Neanderthals in Glasgow).Who the fuck knows????augie wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 10:54 amOneBardGooner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 10:09 amHave to agree, we need to "Man Da Fuck Up" - Or that reputation for having a soft underbelly; which under Arteta and the teams growing confidencehad begun to fade, will become a trade mark again. I don't know why everyone screams about Vieira. He put in a nice dirty tackle and then scored a cracking goal. Not sure what you're all beefing about, it looks like we've unearthed a real gem.

I skim read this post and saw “screams”, “dirty tackle” and “beefing”. Thought I had ended up on some sort of S&M thread.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 1:15 pmI don't know why everyone screams about Vieira. I thought with all the gravitas put on friendly games, last night's result would be cheered to the rafters on here but it's deathly quiet (apart from the Tierney Ultras
)
Strange that

I'd say hardly anyone seen whole game (3.30am kick off will see to that) so we cant really comment on what we havent seen.
Interesting to hear xavi whinging that we played with too much intensity - we played with fcuk all against the manc c.unts and got raped, so I am all for the team showing more intensity whether it is pre season or not
Surely rodders the tierney situation must be frustrating you too - imo it was bad enough playing a player that cant defend (zinchenko) ahead of him last season, but now we are playing right backs and centre backs out of position instead of playing him

Re: other matches this weekend
Seriously Augie can't you see and accept that preseason games are sometimes about trying different things? Playing Kiwior and Timber is about seeing how they perform in that position not that they are above KT in the pecking order.
It's exploring alternatives should we ever need to use them there.
Well that's the way I see it but what do I know!

So in ten of the starting positions pre season is about doing the same things as last season and playing people in the same positions, but at left back it is all about trying things out in case zinchenko and tierney are both unavailable ??? Is that honestly how you see it ? Cant see that making the difference between runners up and winners tbh.
I think arteta wants rid of tierney but wont come out and say it and is trying to get tierney to come demanding a move so that he can say that he didnt want to lose tierney - I suspect tierney knows arteta's game and would be open to a move but doesnt want to please el basque by looking for a move, so in the meantime he is being demeaned by not even getting a start in pre season games, and arteta doesnt get money for his transfer kitty by selling tierney. Basically no-one is winning here
Re: other matches this weekend
FFS mate don't be so obtuse!
Havertz is learning our game. Last night Trossard and Jesus where continually swapping positions to an extent never seen before, along with Havertz too.
Partly has been seen at right back again after substitutions. I could go on with more examples.
It's nothing new or unique to Arteta. I distinctly recall the Old French Fraud playing Sagna at centre half for every game one preseason.
We know what KT offers. He's an old fashioned style of left back that is on record recently saying he's learning the new role.

Re: other matches this weekend
Augie I love Tierney but had a seminal moment with him the season before last when we tanked top 4 down the stretch, a large part of the blame for which can be apportioned to him being out crocked, AGAIN.
We tried to plug the gap by playing Travares, Cedric and even Xhaka there but it was a fucking disaster. He can’t be relied on to stay fit for any extended period of time, which he’s proved beyond doubt both during his time with Celtic and again with us, so I’ve drawn a line in the sand with him and moved on.
You can also add Tomi and Partey to that list, I’m also fucking done with those two and if ESR and Zinchenko continue their trend of having long spells out injured this season they can go and get fucked too.
My tolerance level with players who don’t contribute due to recurring injury is extremely low, I’m all Diaby’d out shall we say.
I give zero fucks if I see a team sheet, pre season or otherwise, where Tomi, Partey or Tierney aren’t starting because the more they do play the sooner they’ll get injured.
