As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We would, in effect be breaking up an under achieving, soft, always injured team that has failed to deliver, it would not be the worst thing in the world if he re built a team with more desire and metal but him doing that is what we wait nervously for.
Out of our current squad all are replaceable, only Vermaelen, Wilshere and van Persie are essential for me, Fabregas too if his mind wasn't elsewhere, the rest are spineless and I wanted this squad ripped up and started again after last year but I'm just nervous that he wont act quickly for replacements which would then make them leaving a disaster.

Yes but i think Augie is right to say that if we need to to massively rebuild the squad then surely wenger should no way be the man to do so. If that is what the club and board see as necessary then Arsene should pay for the utter failure of his team with his job and let a new man reshape the team in a different image.
Our board are weak, disconnected, trough-feeding *word censored* who have been hypnotised by Wenger's patter. Even if this team was broken up this board would back wenger with the money to rebuild and so i hope we can keep these losers together until Wenger is eventually removed by fan pressure which i can see happening next summer.
While his point is right its not relivant because he won't be sacked yet the team will still need major surgery.
What is annoying is that this could have all been avoided if he added the odd quality name or two every summer instead of loading up on potential, the potential exodus shows that he's lost the players, maybe thats a good thing in the long run.

See I agree with that 100% - yes it will almost guarantee us at least 2 more trophyless seasons but as a Gooner for over 35 years I can def accept that short term pain if I feel that it will benefit the club in the long run. As a club we have lost focus on where we need to be and what each persons roll is in the club - the players need to play with 100% commitment and ready to die for the team, the manager needs to manage the team and players and not the balance sheets or the training ground cafe or french tv stations, and the board (esp ivan) needs to ensure that everybody beneath them is totally focused on their jobs and they are held accountable when they fail. Right now too many players are looking for escape doors citing a lack of success and totally ignore their gutless contributions to that failure while the manager is constantly moaning about "financial doping" or referee's decisions or whatever and this practice of unaccountability is at the core of this clubs demise from tip to toe and for me getting shot of nasri, clichy, arshavin and the shite players could well be a step in the right direction
Wenger has an excuse for every one of his failings. It's got to the point now where even he cannot defend the quality of players we are signing so he changes tack and attacks other clubs for 'overspending'.
In his mind, everyone and everything else is to blame except him. No-one else knows as much about football as him, and yet we have the biggest one trick pony in the history of the premiership. Wenger only knows one way to play, he only knows the French/French immigrant football market.
In the background we have a board that has grown cash rich on the back of CL qualification and virtual non-spending by Wenger, it's no surprise that they want Wenger to stay, which board in the world wouldn't?
Gazidis sits between the cash happy board and Wenger, happy to do what the board want ie: very little, happy for Wenger to take any flak, and all that time it's questionable exactly what role he is actually performing.
Performance has been similar for 6 years, promising little, delivering nothing.
Arsenal have been a successful business for those 6 years, buying cheap, selling dear. Wenger is not primarily a football manager, his mind is too set in economics, he would be great as part of UEFA or FIFA, a club manager he is not because he has far too many conflicting priorities when his ONLY priority should be winning trophies. This will be a disastrous summer for Arsenal and the most damning verdict on Wenger can be left to our top players.....they are not happy, that tells us all we need to know about the man who some still follow blindly like some bizarre cult leader.
Arsenal Transfer Rumours on the Beeb (Sunday 3/7/2011)
Arsenal are ready to make a £20m move for Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing
Clichy will complete an £8m move to City on Monday - and that will spark Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger into action as he tries to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill, while Newcastle's Enrique is also a target.
Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin could be on his way to Turkish giants Galatasaray , who have offered £13.5m for the Russian.
Southampton are lining up Millwall winger James Henry as a replacement for Arsenal-bound Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Chelsea are to launch a shock bid for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.
Arsenal's hopes of signing Ricardo Alvarez are in the balance after Inter Milan submitted a bid for the Velez Sarsfield midfielder
Arsenal face a battle to sign Belgian international midfielder Eden Hazard, as Inter Milan are poised to make a bid for the Lille player.
There is more chance of US Martin getting on the board at Arsenal than there is of Wenger spending 20m on Downing! These rags really do run some desperate stories!!

Exactly, in a perverse kind of way Wenger now has the opportunity to admit to himself that his project has failed while playing the victim as the players want out.
Had everyone stayed then he is that stubborn that he would stick to his vision, he now has the chance to back track, question is, will he? Or will he just replace the rats jumping from a sinking ship that they helped sink with identical rodents????
It would not be the end of the world to break up this bunch of losers, the manager has the chance to adapt, if he don't then he must go.
