It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Wouldnt it be typical if we did actually make a move for villa only to see him get a serious injury tomorrow nite in barcelona derby

The cynic inside me wonders about the timing of this just ahead of a possible inglorious exit from yet another competition....?

Good day to possibly bury bad news........ :rubchin:

Fuck I really am thinking too much.

If Villa comes, this may well be proof that Wenger is not solely in charge of transfers anymore. If you look at it Villa, he goes against everything Wenger likes- he is 31, established, probably on big money, has no sell-on fee and recently injured, all reasons that Wenger would turn his nose up at a player. Could it be that he's on the market, a biggish name and wants to play so someone on the board has told Wenger he's having him? Saying that though, it strikes of Arshavin again, in that we are struggling for 4th with the fans getting pissed off and need to sign someone to look ambitious.

What a surprise (if it's even true). They want 16m so we offer 13.8. Arsole knows.

Oh well. Next.....

14m???? That is absurd. He's 31 ffs! I know we want signings but I was thinking in the 23-29 years old range not geriatrics.

Spot on. This is purely a sticking plaster, smacking of a desperate grab for the first available 'name' that will think about joining us. I can see the bullshit excuses come April and May: "Well, we signed Villa for a top, top amount. What more do people expect me to do'?

Not sure his age should be that big a problem. If we got 3 or 4 years worth of goals out of him and/or he helped us win trophies who would give a monkeys that we paid that much for someone in his 30's or that he had no 're-sale value'? Most gooners certainly wouldn't. Anyway, beggars can't be choosers and were he to sign for us, Villa would still automatically become our best striker so would be worth investing in on that basis alone. 8)

Fuck the sceptics, if Villa signs I will be so bloody happy. Villa, podolski and giroud leading the attack with wilshere and arteta in support, what's not to love? Its a step in the right direction :barscarf:

Yeah, but that's where Wenger's got himself at the moment.
