THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Actually we had a very long discussion about this. We have a secret forum of own. (sorry Augie) Baba crossed the line last time and was banned. If it really is him  then he will cross the line again and be banned. One of the great things about this place is we try to keep it as open as possible, sadly not as much as we used to but we are still more liberal than any other gooner site. BABA DIDN'T KILL ANYONE...

Starting at the wrong end of the pitch. History tells us you need to sort the defence out - Keegan-era Newcastle, let's sign all the forwards we can.

It has to be a proper defensive minded midfield player, plus a top top quality centre half. I heard Keown talking a day or two ago, about David Luis, saying that when he played, he took it as a personal insult if a goal was conceded. To be fair, I think Cole said something similar, he took it as an affront if the right-winger got a cross in.

We can become the ultra-flat track bullies, but will still lack that sort of mentality at the back I think.

If we sign a centre-half, I will be amazed. The plan is once again to guarantee the Virtual Trophy, it is just becoming a bit more expensive to do so.

No, that's the point, he did not care! Keown was saying that he had one concern that was to stop goals being conceded, he saw a last-ditch tackle as his 'goal', where Luiz wants to carry the ball out, join the attack, etc.

1-0 to The Arsenal did manage to win some real silverware, as opposed to, er.......

Not so long ago, Wenger saw this. If we could have a Gilberto now, that would strengthen the team no end.

Wenger knows he has to spend or we'd be f*cked.

The Ozil purpose bought him time....till we crashed and burned towards the run in (again)....if he only buys Sanchez ( debuchy & remy) we will still struggle to win the title...we NEED a proper Defensive M.Fielder.

Regardless of what we all know (is needed) unless he goes on a spending spree to end all spending sprees (and AW just doesn't do such things!) it is AW who holds the purse strings and decides who comes in and who leaves...Arteta as good as he has been is past it....AW refuses to play Pods as a striker and so he may as well go too.....

Bender or Khedira in Mid-field and of course (hopefully) Ospina in goal - that would shake the gobby pole out of his daydream.

good to see someone on here talking some sense.
I am amazed at the optimism on here just because we signed someone from Chile who might be capable of scoring a few goals for us. Now if we sign a defenisve midfield player and centre half then I will be excited - until then we have done no more than Happy Talk has said, and that is to secure 4th place again.

Yes, silly me for getting all excited about capturing one of the most exciting talents in the world.
Wenger has enticed him from Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs around.
But let's not feel optimistic, let's not give Wenger any credit.
Let's just keep the pessimistic mood prevail and enjoy having a good moan and bitch.

FFS..........

Looks like the Khedira signing is off - he wants too much Wage wonga - Greedy *word censored*.

We should go for Schniederlin - he suits the Arsenal style and has huge potential and is cheaper..

So signing Sanchez will not making us a better team?
What will it take for a little optimism??

Wenger is building one of the most exciting squads in Europe and people here are competing here to be as negative as possible.

Just bizarre.......

Hello everyone on the site instead of an intro i thought i would start by responding to laughingGooner and say it isnt bizarre that everyone on here,or the majority, have a negative view point.I dont think optimism is obtainable whilst AW is in charge. He seems to string everyone along enough to fill the coffers without ever achieving full potential.I have been on the site as a guest everyday for years and joined a while back to respond to a post but someone put a similar view to me so i didnt bother.Today i read the post and realised i must start posting.I would love to be proved wrong by Mr Wenger but he is to old in the tooth to change what he has been doing for the last 8 years+
