I really don't want to cause a shitstorm but he was very probably rightly convicted - twice. His sentence was commuted years later as due to the time elapsed and cost it wouldn't be worth the state pursuing the case, but to say he was wrongly convicted isn't quite right. Whether or not he was guilty, he was a nasty piece of work in his youth.
What's not in doubt though is he did good advocacy work in Canada for wrongly convicted people later on.

Absolutely right op, now widely accepted that he was guilty as charged, I understand Dylan no longer performs "hurricane" now believing he like so many others were duped by carters supporters.
Also the the film "the hurricane" couldn't have been further from the truth in portraying the actual events accurately.
{QUARTZ: Was not aware of Dylan's change of stance and belief in Carter's guilt, but the film was innaccurate to the point of changing the results of Boxing fights that actually happened.}
